TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE
February 14, 1956
The eleventh regular meeting of the Town Cele-
brations Committee was held on February 14 from B to
9 30 p.m in the American Legion Room of Cary Hall.
Those present were: Lewis, Cheever, Foster, Bashian,
Frothingham, Poehler, Bernier, Litchfield, Williams,
Robinson
Mr Lewis told about a special meeting which
had been called to help the Board of Selectmen in ARTICLE FOR
setting up an Article in the warrant concerning a By- TOWN
law Celebrations Committee by writing out our sugges- WARRANT
tions for them. We are suggesting a committee of
nine for a three-year term, three of the committee to
be women, and that the committee be appointed by the
Board of Selectmen. Mr Lewis explained that the By-
law Committee would be Article 31 in the Town Warrant .
Mrs. LaPorte and Mrs Gorell came to ask us
questions about April 19 and inform us, too, that the
1 Girl Scouts would both march and have a float.
Mr Poehler reported that the elementary
children would march in the parade and those plans
would be given us later
After a short discussion it was decided that
we would invite General Douglas MacArthur to be our
Guest of Honor
Mr Lewis then announced various sub-committees
