HomeMy WebLinkAbout1955-12-13-TCC-min.pdf 25 LEXINGTON CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE December 13, 1955 The eighth regular meeting of the Town Cele- brations Committee was held in the Selectmen' s Room onthe evening of December 13 Nine members were present Mesdames Cheever and Williams, Messrs Bashian, Foster, Sawyer, Hutchins, Poehler, Gustin, and Gillespie. In the absence of the chairman, as chairman pro-tem Mr Foster called the meeting to order at 8 20 p.m The report of the November 15th meeting as recorded by Mr Dearborn was accepted as read Mr Gustin arrived and took over the meeting at 8 30 Mr Gustin volunteered to type the budget and give it to Mr Lewis to be filed with the Board of Selectmen Mr Gustin then had us help him make a list of all local organizations to which he would send letters inviting representatives to an open meeting on January 17 in Estabrook Hall Mr Gustin promised he would have publicity concerning our Committee in the January 5 Minute-man Mrs Cheever was asked to inquire from the Board of Selectmen as to the possibility of holding DATE OF meetings on the 2nd and Lith Tuesday of each month MEETINGS from now on In this way the public would know our meeting dates and could visit us at such times Your secretary was also asked to make up a brief summary of matters already discussed since the formation of the Committee and to send said summary along with minutes of the meeting to each member, the Board of Selectmen, and Adams Press The resignation of Mrs. Dodge was received with regret The matter of inviting President Eisenhower to Lexington on April 19 was tabled Mr Gillespie gave a report of progress on contacting bands Mr Lewis was asked to make arrangements to meet with. the Appropriation Committee concerning our budget Those asked to go with him were Cheever, Gustin, and Foster Mr Poehler reported on 1) the color guard REPORTS OF. its problems of uniforms and time for practice; 2) PROGRESS answers to a letter sent elementary principals con- -- cerning our theme; 3) list of ideas from pupils and 26 teachers on how the theme may be translated into action He will have a list for us next time Mrs Cheever reported that the Board of Select- men had paid her UN bills and sent a check of $5 for postage She said she would try to visit Concord and inquire about their Celebrations Committee before the next meeting which was arranged to be held on January 10 Edith B.
