The Selectmen's meeting of August 13 was discussed Roly had attended and written
a brief report for the Chairman Reorganization of LBO is the primary concern for LBC
There will be a coordinator appointed- there should also be stronger liaison between the
Bd of Selectmen' and LBC The Town Manager had prepared a report on the reorganization
for the Bd of Selectmen and several copies of this report were available for the LBC
members The Manager's organizational chart was studied There are several points which
have to be clarified Some disagreement with the Manager's chart was found and alter-
natives discussed LBC feels that the Executive Board of LBC should have a representative
of the Bd of Selectmen and include the Town Manager Mary Herbert said she would send a
copy of Concord's resolution of organization which included the Town Manager King said
that the final form of organization should be a mutual agreement with the Selectmen, the
Manager and the appointees
Mary said she was nervous about "things not being locked down" She stressed that
promises are not enough LBC should spell out what they need from the State Bicentennial
There is a task force which has been set up and will be working with the towns This
group will be working primarily with Mr O'Connell Dick suggested that a Mr Harrington
on Worthen Rd could be of assistance in estimating the numbers needed in an MP detachment
and could help in an application to the Governor for such assistance
King said that the Bd of Selectmen have asked LBC to detail the schedule for
extending the invitation to the President Roly suggested that a rededication of the
Green would be appropriate King felt that this would fit into the Selectmen's suggestion
of a religious event It was agreed that Sunday April 20 would be the day Lexington
would invite the President No time schedule will be necessary
Dick reported that the Lexington signs now have the theme slogan attached He also
said that the adult education program is scheduled for the fall with Larry Whipple and
Rev Handley being the instructors The course will be called "History of Lexington and
Bicentennial review" It will be given on Tuesday nights in six sessions
Tony reported that the project that Bob Harris of Workshop '75 had proposed had not
developed as he had thought Tony will help with legal work for the project but will not
be a trustee There are still problems to solve but Mr Harris is continuing to pursue
funding
