Dick noted that we should notify State and National that we wish to run this pro- duction and that we will need $30,000 to $40,000 It was emphasized the NERO should make detailed plans with itemized costs in making a proposal to the National Endowment for the Arts Accompanying this should be the amount pledged by the town. Mary Herbert from the State Bicentennial also joined the Committee She has recently joined the State Committee in the capacity of coordinator for the cities and towns The discussion turned to other types of projects for the celebration She stated that there are some 50 designated sites in Lexington without markers Placing markers at these sites would be a realizable project She suggested that someone be in touch with the State Historical Commission about this Warren Butters would be the person to contact Also suggested for fund raising were decals as was done in 1963 Dr Smith of the Cary Lecture Committee and the State Bicentennial also suggested through Steve that Norman Rockwell be commissioned to do a painting Steve and Dick had attended the recent meeting of the JSBC, and reported that Charles Parks had been appointed as Chairman of the sub-committee concerned with food Dick reported that the town of Concord had issued lists of request to Hanscom including latrines, rope, reviewing stands etc Lexington's needs from the Joint Services would include crowd control, VIP housing, and security Mary Darcy said that the State should be informed of what the towns need and what steps they are taking so that there will not be overlapping or duplications Mary Herbert urged us to let her know what we need to (- have have a Calendar with dates which we can then inform the State Committee about Tony Mancini then was given the floor to outline for the Committee the process of a Tax Free Foundation and a non-profit corporation to assist in receiving funds for Bicentennial projects After some discussion Dick made the motion to establish a non- profit corporation to raise money to offset expenses - proceeds to further the cele- bration of 1975 The discussion on the motion resulted in the fact that this particular type of incorporation is easily done and does not need to be initiated at this time. It was then agreed that we would not set this corporation up at this time However the non-profit corporation specifically set up with tax free status which will allow the corporation to acquire funds by gift or otherwise for a permanent memorial or memorials was voted and Tony will follow through on this At the next meeting the members of the corporation will be discussed and hopefully chosen.
