The meeting was called to order by the Chairman Pro Tem, Dick Michelson at 7 30 p m.
The new members of the Committee were welcomed Dick Barnes was present to represent
Dr Fobert Also present were Don Graham and Becky Nussdorfer
The minutes of the last meeting.in. June were accepted with no corrections or
additions The organizational chart and new member lists were distributed
King Howard had drafted a letter to the TCC before he had to leave for Europe
This letter was read by the members present Discussion brought out that the letter
gave a rather harsh feeling - it was a bit brusque The Committee felt that they would
like more time to consider it It was felt the Selectmen should define the responsi-
bilities of the two Committees It was unanimously decided to postpone any action on
this letter and to enclose copies with the minutes for those not present to study
Other correspondence was noted by the secretary Capron Lighting Co , Inc of
Needham Heights is experienced with sound and light shows and would like to discuss
this idea with our committee Becky will contact them and invite a representative for
a future meeting Also a letter from ARBC Deputy Executive Director Hall promising
us information on the mini-bus leasing business was noted Such information has not
arrived so Becky will contact Mr Hall concerning this
Don Graham reported that Roland Greeley, had attended a meeting of the Planning
Board primarily in regard to campgrounds in Lexington Don said that it was about
this time that the Board had received the resignation of Alex Zaleski Since there
has been no replacement for Mr Zaleski as yet, further action on this problem has been
delayed
Don also reported on the meeting with the military at Hanscom Field on August
14, 1972 He said that all branches of the service were represented and representa-
tives from Lexington and Concord Attending from Lexington were Ray Barnes, Roland
Greeley, Linc Cole, and Don Graham. The purpose of the meeting was to bring the
military up to date as to what has been accomplished and to find out in what capacity
they could be of service Enclosed is a copy of the minutes of this meeting Don
felt that there was a genuine interest from the military both as to aid in planning
and in the participation of military units in the ceremonies
Don also reported on the progress of the Middlesex Bicentennial Liaison Committee
He reviewed the origin of the committee for the benefit of the new members Organiza-
tion, Staffing, and Financing are the primary concerns right now Some things will
-2-
have to be handled at the State level Police action beyond town borders will be nec-
essary Tbwns are unable to provide sufficent staff There are avenues for Federal
money which will be pursued Local matching of funds will be expected Needs should
be defined as quickly as possible, so that financing can be established Town Meetings
will be asked for funds to contribute to the regional group The next meeting of the
MBLC is next Tuesday, September 19 in Burlington The MAPC will present a workable F
proposal
The Committee agreed that a meeting of LBC every week was going to be diffucult
It was decided that the next meeting would be September 27, at 7 00 P M. and that
Doris could report at that time (NOTE TIME) Warren Butters and Bob Reynolds could
be heard then also The meeting would adjourn at 8 00 P.M in order that the members
I
could attend the Historical Society meeting which will feature David Little talking
about the Centennial and Frank Sadlauskas on the Bicentennial
If a member of the LBC finds he cannot make it to our meeting it would be
appreciated if he would call Becky
Respectfully submitted,
Becky Nussdorfer, Secretary
