King Howard read his presentation of Article 42 which he will deliver at the Town Meeting. Comments and sugges- tions were given by the LBC It was emphasized that LBC is concerned with the impact on our town and its citizens by large numbers of visitors in 1975, but we must be prepared with adequate police, fire, health and planning so that the celebration does not turn into a disaster LBC does not intend to do a great deal of advertising Publicity will be limited to service infor— mation such as to how to park outside of Lexington and what transportation is available Martin Gilman will present Article 43 The Appropriations Committee is reporting unfavorably on this article King said that our general approach is for a permanent memorial The legal question of a museum supported by the town is still unclear, but it is understood that State legislation is necessary for a town to provide funds for a museum. Dick Michelson said that the Chamber of Commerce had voted to give $1,000 toward the permanent memorial study as stated in article No 43 if the Town Meeting turned it down. It was agreed not to recommend reconsideration of No 43 until the Town Meeting had made its decision. A confusion as to the name and function of the sub-committee was cleared Hereafter, it will be known as the Permanent Memorial Committee (PMC) and charged with developing other forms of a memorial as well as the museum idea and with suggesting a site for the memorial. LBC is in favor of the establish- ment of a Historical Commission as soon as feasible Such a commission will be able to receive money from Federal or State sources Donald Graham has been appointed as a member of LBC and will be the representative to the regional committee Mr Howard requested concurrence in his decision to appoint all past Patriots Day Chief Marshalls still in Lexington as an advisory sub-committee to this committee They would serve in order to ensure maximum quality and -2- control of the parade LBC agreed if such a group were advisors jointly to the Town Celebrations Committee and to the Bicentennial Committee The next meeting of LBC will be April 12 at 7 30 P M. and will be devoted to Patriots Day 1972 (April 17) The meeting adjourned at 8 00 P M. Respectfully submitted, Becky Nuss'dorfer, Secretary
