Ray Barnes and Linc Cole were unable to attend The newly appointed member, Roland Greeley, was also out: of town. The chairman reported that the DiCarlo bill had passed in the State Legislature A warrant article for the March Town Meeting will now be prepared King also reported a meeting with John B. Finegan of the Concord 1975 Celebrations Committee Mr Finegan will meet =ith this committee on December Rth_ The Concord Committee has been established for a number of years They have already begun to lay away money for their celebration. The $50,000 originally planned for expenditures has been expanded to $100,000 They have given up plans for a permanent memorial as they could not obtain i Federal funds Mr Eaton is the chairman of the subcommittee for stamps and coins It was noted that Acton has information on coins Brewster Conant of that town is considered most informed and could be of service if we have plans for stamps or coins Concord has considered an inflated balloon '+ structure to be erected at the time of their celebration. They have instituted quality control plans A foundation for contributions which is tax exempt has been formed King Howard feels there is a real spirit of cooperation in the Concord Committee and we will look forward to having-Mr Finegan here on December 8 King is due to attend the meeting of the Concord Committee tomorrow evening November 11 and any other members of our Committee are wel- 1 come to attend also King announced the appointment of Roland Greeley to our Committee. Our publicity chairman, Doris Pullen reported results of her meeting with Robert Hilton of Cary Memorial Library She was pleased to find enthusiasm already growing. There is a Bicentennial Regional Library Associa- tion consisting of the towns of Winchester, Concord, Marblehead, Osterville, Lexington and Boston. This group is considering a touring film festival to be continuous over the next five years A bibliography of resource materials would be an excellent asset Also a Lexington Room card catalogue would be of great service. Mr Hilton hoped to appoint a trustee and a staff member to work with Lexington Bicentennial Committee (LBC) They would like to have the minutes of this committee sent to the library Cary also has nine films on the 19th of April which are available to LBC. Metchear Jr and William Bonaiorno a Has not defined plans as yet, but has set up a 1975 committee b Suggested contact with other communities having bicentennial celebrations c The Pancake Breakfast will be scheduled as in the past but they will need a larger hall and extra help - perhaps the Boy Scouts Dick Michelson emphasized the international nature of Rotary and suggested that they develop programs with this in mind Lions - William Fitzgerald a It was the concensus of their organization to continue with awarding of the White Tri-corn Hat b Combine with Concord for the 1975 road race King Howard pointed out that careful scheduling of the race will have to be planned due to the magnitude and number of celebrations being planned in both communities Kiwanis - Anthony Mancini a Started at a board meeting a year ago to think about the 1975 celebration. b The Ball which they have on Patriots Day eve will be held if possible King pointed out that the Centennial Legion is planning a Ball However, events should not be confined to the few days around the 19th Such events can very well be scheduled during the year or through the next four years King also suggested that they direct some effort toward raising money now for the 1975 celebration. Junior Chamber of Commerce - Robert Jackson a Hope to elicit interest and help from other JC ' s in surrounding communities and the State They have not taken any action as vet King drew attention to the fact that Lexington is going to want some enduring object or building and organization or groups of organizations will be needed to put the impetus to such a project The Chairman thanked those present and welcomed them to future meeting< The next business of the LBC continued Dick Michelson said he had talked further with Bob Marrigan from the Minutemen, specifically about Musket firing It is done successfully at the Concord Bridge - perhaps Lexington could develop such a program on the Green N [ nut N emit r tO 1971 Ili A ibility of a scund and light show t r the rt en was di cussed ā€”, Uhe international community should be included to consideriott the event of the celebration Interest in this has been shown by 83 different cuntri perhaps a special day for each country could be planned over the ten tear period Dick also said further use of the visitors center can be planned Th re will be a notice in the MINUTE MAN inviting all interested persons to our next meeting The meeting was adjourned at 9 45 P M.
