Committee voted unanimously to support composting-facility solar project. Shawn will follow up with Ameresco regarding feasibility of upgrading Hadley Building roof to accommodate solar panels. Bill Hadley: Close to using LEDs to replace induction streetlights as they die out. Committee discussed Better Building standards. Town has about 60 days to set higher energy standards for several building and HVAC projects: New Hastings HVAC in HS, Diamond New Fire station or police station One issue: Treatment of electricity versus gas in determining efficiency. Electricity is more efficient at end use, gas is often more efficient in overall energy usage, since generation and distribution of electricity is quite inefficient. Committee voted unanimously to endorse Better Building Task Force. General agreement that efficiency targets should be increased from current code plus LEED silver. BBTF will start by reaching understanding on current practice and PBC capabilities.
