Commissioner Absent: Edward Adelman. Associate Commissioners Present: Richard Neumeier, Robert Adams, Brien Cooper. Associate Commissioner Absent: nd Chair Paul O’Shaughnessy called the May 2, 2024 Historic Districts Commission meeting to order at 6:01pm. FORMAL HEARING Chair Paul O’Shaughnessy opened the formal hearing for 13 Depot Square, 1661 Massachusetts Avenue, 1761 Massachusetts Avenue, 1875 Massachusetts Avenue, exterior alterations (Riding Through History) in the Battle Green Historic District Documents Full plan set of proposed alteration: dated April 7, 2024 Photographs of entire place of each building elevation visible from the public way: dated April 7, 2024 Material List: dated April 7, 2024 Work Scope Narrative: dated April 7, 2024 Catalogue cut sheets: dated April 7, 2024 Owner Authorization Letter: February 28, 2024 Legal Advertisement Authorization Form: dated February 28, 2024 The applicants explained the proposed riding through history plans at 13 Depot Square, 1661 Massachusetts Avenue, 1761 Massachusetts Avenue, and 1875 Massachusetts Avenue. The Commission felt this application was appropriate except for the placement of the horse in front of the Visitor Center (1875 Mass Ave) on the grass. The application of signage for horses will be submitted separately. Robert Adams will serve as liaison for this application. No Public Comments. Historic Districts Commission 1 / 3 Motion was granted and seconded to issue a Certificate of Appropriateness for exterior changes to 13 Depot Square, 1661 Massachusetts Avenue, 1761 Massachusetts Avenue, 1875 Massachusetts Avenue with one exception of the placement of the horse in left side of the Visitor Center Entrance on the grassland to be determined by Robert Adams with a Photoshopped image of the horse in place. Motion carried, All in favor. Chair Paul O’Shaughnessy opened the formal hearing for 11 Waltham Street, exterior alterations (Window Replacement) in the Battle Green Historic District Documents Full plan set of proposed alteration: dated March 25, 2024 Photographs of entire place of each building elevation visible from the public way: dated March 25, 2024 Material List: dated March 25, 2024 Work Scope Narrative: dated March 25, 2024 Legal Advertisement Authorization Form: dated March 25, 2024 View photos: dated May 2, 2024 The applicant explained the proposed windows replacement plans for the structure at 11 Waltham Street. The Commission felt this application was appropriate. Dan Hisel recused himself for this application because he is the tenant of this building. No public comments. Motion was granted and seconded to issue a Certificate of Appropriateness for exterior changes to 11 Waltham Street. Motion carried, all in favor. Chair Paul O’Shaughnessy opened the formal hearing for 1733 Massachusetts Avenue, exterior alterations (Front Façade Alteration) in the Battle Green Historic District Documents Full plan set of proposed alteration: dated March 21, 2024 Photographs of entire place of each building elevation visible from the public way: dated March 21, 2024 Material List: dated March 21, 2024 Work Scope Narrative: dated March 21, 2024 Owner Authorization Letter: dated March 25, 2024 Legal Advertisement Authorization Form: dated March 25, 2024 Photos: dated April 10, 2024 The applicants explained the proposed front façade alteration plans at 1733 Massachusetts Avenue. The Commission agreed to continue this hearing to June HDC meeting with new drawings. Dan Hisel will serve as the liaison for this application. No Public Comments. Chair Paul O’Shaughnessy opened the formal hearing for 1347 Massachusetts Avenue, exterior alterations (Add pillar on each side of the drive entrance) in the Munroe Tavern Historic District Documents Historic Districts Commission 2 / 3 None This application will continue to the next HDC meeting as per applicant’s request. CONTINUED HEARING Chair Paul O’Shaughnessy opened the continued hearing for 1011 Massachusetts Avenue, exterior alterations (Window Replacement) in the East Village Historic District Documents None This application will continue to June HDC meeting as per applicant’s request. ACTION ITEMS th Consideration and vote on Meeting Minutes of the meeting held on April 4, 2024: The Commission th made a motion to approve the minutes of the meeting held on April 4, 2024 as written.
