Ms.Lisa Colagiovanni,Faculty Rep Agenda Notes Welcome Jackie explained the meeting agenda briefly. Approval of minutes from February 8th,2023 found HERE Minutes were approved. ●Placement Process for 2024-25 School Year ●Kindergarten Screening ●New School Innovation Plan HERE The New School Innovation Plan is ready to be reviewed with some additional revisions.All the six schools use the same table of content structure for the innovation plan.The whole district is working together to create a robust system.The innovation plan will be finalized by June.Family Rep.asked about 5th graders’grade distribution with respect to the beachmark data.For example,did the students with low scores were paid attention to?Teachers explained that students who need help have received targeted practice training to improve their skills.The school has provided a parent portal for parents to communicate with teachers.The process of informing Red-flagged students to the parents was explained.At the beginning year and in the middle of year,the school will notify parents about the students who received red flags.A physical data wall will be created to show students’progress,identify trends and gaps in both mathematics and ELA.Students will be de-identified on the wall.And the data is confidential to students.The Harrington Administration will meet with the Fiske Administration to learn about individual students transferring to Harrington. Jackie explained the overall design of the Placement Process.The Placement Process for 2024-25 is thoughtfully designed.Spreadsheets were used to facilitate the design of the Placement Process planning.Blind placement strategy was used with teachers’names suppressed.The rationale is that students should be placed to build the cohorts of the kids,and then teachers will be selected based on the characteristics of the kids. Rory explained the details used for the spreadsheets for the Placement Process.Tabs were linked to connect the changes and revisions among different sheets in order to create optimal placements. Teachers have met several times to assure the right placements of students.There are certain constraints among students that the school should follow in order to create the best learning environment for kids. The parents'forms distributed to the community was the first step of the whole placement process.Jackie’s team paid attention to the special requests from the parents.And her team communicated with the parents to inform them of the adjustment made. Special needs students were carefully arranged. Teachers inside and outside classrooms were consulted to provide inputs for the placement process. Teachers always try to put kids who are familiar with each other into the same sections.The school had meetings before the April break to decide the arrangement of sections. Spreadsheets were designed among principles to provide the overall picture of the whole LPS. Family Rep.queried whether the school observed any drop off of students enrollment due to the impact of Covid-19.Harrington did not observe such a pattern. Family Rep.asked how to evaluate the communications cards provided by the teachers. Teachers explained that they will contact the parents if a problem needs to be addressed.Parents are encouraged to contact teachers if they need help to interpret the report cards.
