Mr Allen Kenney, Chairman of the Lexington Board of Selectmen, convened
the meeting and explained that this meeting was a follow-up to an earlier meeting
between the Lexington Bicentennial Committee and the 1975 Celebrations Committee
of Concord, with invited guests from nine other towns present who had gathered
to discuss mutual problems associated with the 1975 celebration As a result, the
representatives at that meeting passed a resolution calling for an organizational
meeting of representatives of all Cities and Towns which took part in the events of
1775
Mx Kenney then appointed Mr Graham as Acting Chairman for the evening
Mr Graham in turn appointed Mr Sisitsky as recording secretary for the eveni%
Considerable discussion followed on what the aims and purposes of this
group should be. It was recognized that all of the area towns and cities, whether
or not they plan on sponsoring activities, will experience direct and indirect
problems associated with traffic and transportation, as well as problems associated
with the provision of overnight accommodations and rest room, eating and health
facilities

It was felt that this group should not get involved in the operation of
individual community events to an extent which would be greater than being
able to recognize and identify area-wide effects from such activities
Several of the representatives discussed the 1975 celebration events
that were being planned for their towns Other towns reported that no specific
events were being planned at this time.
Mr Graham appointed the following persons to examine various problems
of common concern and report back to the group on how best to study them.
Mr Steele - traffic and transportation.
Mr Kahan - overnight accommodations including camping and restrooms
Mr Carson - organization and procedures for this group
Mr LeBlanc and Sima Osdoby - coordination with other groups and events
It was decided that the representatives at this meeting should meet again
on May 16, 1972 at 8 00 in the Selectmen's Meeting Room in Lexington Town Hall-
