The purpose of the meeting was two fold 1) to establish a friendly working relationship between Lexington and the new officials of the State Department of Public Works and 2) to suggest that Route 3 not be extended beyond 128 but that 128 and 2 be used instead. The representatives of the Department of Public Works offered the following information 1. If Route 3 is extended toward Boston prior takings in Lexington and Woburn (1953) will be used. The approximately two mile stretch extended from 128 and 3 across North Street, Lowell Street and ends in Woburn at Russell Street ( an extension of East Street) 2. A complete new study will be initiated by the State Department of Public Works because there has been so much new land development since the previous study was made. 3. Before any action is taken, public hearings for our officials and neighborhood representatives with the Bureau of Public Roads will be held to consider Lexington's suggestions. 4. The construction of Route 2 will not be affected by decisions regarding Route 3. 5. The priority schedule determining the timing of the construction of Route 3 will be available some time next summer Route 3 Advisory Committee -2- Meeting January 29, 1964 The neighborhood representatives were requested to compile an assessment of the homes in their respective communities .
