Chair Paul O’Shaughnessy called the April 4, 2024 Historic Districts Commission meeting to order
at 6:02pm.
FORMAL HEARING
Chair Paul O’Shaughnessy opened the formal hearing for 1874 Massachusetts Avenue, exterior
alterations (Fencing Extension) in the Battle Green Historic District

The Commission felt this application was appropriate except for the details of entry door. Edward
Adelman will follow up the drawing details of entry door for this application.

1777 Massachusetts Avenue with two conditions – front-facing divided lights to either side of the
door are preserved & additional detail drawing in terms of a cross-section of how the entry door
will work. Motion carried, all in favor.

The applicants explained the proposed addition plans for the structure at 4 Gibson Road.
The Commission felt this application was appropriate on the conditions of the design of the triple window
arrangement and a recommendation that the garage be cited as presented for architectural and landscaping
reasons. The Commission support the application for the Zoning variance of the special permit.

The Commission agreed to continue this hearing to a future meeting with a new drawing and design. Chair
Paul O’Shaughnessy disclosed that he is a board member of Lexington Historical Society.
Abigail McCabe, Planning Director, explained the lot subdivision details for the lot of 4 Percy Road.
Anne Lee, director of Lexington Historical Society, expressed her concerns on the Munroe Tavern and
Tavern Lane regarding the new construction on the site of 4 Percy Rd.
