Members in Attendance: Marian Cohen, Margaret Coppe, Fernando Quezada, Eileen Zalisk, Jeri Zeder
Member Absent: Dan Joyner
The meeting was called to order at 10:02 AM. A quorum was present. Chair Jeri Zeder read the script for
remotely conducted open meetings.
Members voted unanimously: Cohen, Aye, Coppe Aye, Quezada Aye, Zalisk, Aye, Zeder, Aye.
Approval of the February 16, 2024 minutes was moved by Marian Cohen and seconded by Fernando Quezada
and voted unanimously. Voice vote: Cohen, Aye, Coppe Aye, Quezada Aye, Zalisk, Aye, Zeder, Aye
Discussion items
a. Results of voter turnout data (attached)
Make clear the first item is Town Meeting member elections only.
National elections did not significantly differ by precinct.
Questions about special elections, debt exclusions.
Need to add recent elections 2024, presidential primary and municipal.
What have been demographic changes since 2012?
Some precincts show consistently higher turnout (precincts 2 and 4). Is there an income difference?
House size/cost? Age? Political affiliation? Consult assessor’s data base/realtors/Joe Pato.
Brookhaven (pct 3) before and after.
When did Minute Man paper quit being a local presence?
The physical setup at early voting at Cary Hall by Town Clerk commended. The voters had to go to the
table with the municipal ballot before checking in for the presidential primary ballot.
It was recommended a series of articles to educate voters as to the importance of local elections.
What is the statue of New Comers? Welcome Wagon?
b. Chief Equity Officer and Director of Senior Services
Jere Zeder and Dan Joyner met with Hemali Shah the day after the agenda was posted. Draft report will
be distributed before next meeting.
Hemali suggested speaking to the Human Services Director to find out about youth voting, low-income
voting
c. Comparison to other towns
Margaret will look at document and Marian Cohen’s document.

d. What is Lexington already doing?
Eileen Zalisk will pursue
Fernando inquired about the town’s use of electronic sign boards. How are we doing with them? How
many does the Town own? Where are they deployed?
Marian mentioned that the results of the town-wide survey are aligned with the data.
Jeri moved and Fernando moved adjournment.
