Bikeway Commuter Breakfast – Keith will work on the setting up. Yifang will help staff the table. Discovery Day, May 25 – Eileen, Bob, Peggy and Alex can be available. Keith will send out sign-up for shift times. GCC will share tables/tents with Friends of the Bikeway. 250th celebration, Sept 15 Block Party – Peggy described early planning for arts, music and related activities at six park/playground areas along the bikeway. The GCC was encouraged to think about how/whether to participate in this event. Discussion to be continued. Safe Routes to School - Bobak reported on the group’s Feb 12 meeting where goals and activities were brainstormed. He will keep an eye out for potential GCC connections. We certainly have shared interest in more sidewalks. Ongoing Business Brochure Printing – The Committee agreed to Keith’s proposal to print 5000 copies of the current brochure to get us through 2024. They will be available in a few weeks. Stock will be stored in Bob’s shed. Route 8/Concord Ave Land Management Plan – The town has issued a purchase order to the vendor and awaits hearing from him. Route 9 – All set to go. Need to install 4 posts and do signage. Bob/Keith will propose dates for work when the weather is favorable. Keith suggested designating this as Route O. Proposed Route 22/Solomon Pierce connector – After much discussion there was agreement to proceed with the connection between Arlington’s Great Meadow and Lower Vinebrook mostly via Solomon Pierce Rd. This will link with existing routes to form Route 22, which Keith suggested designating as Route I. Keith will solicit dates for a field walk along the connector in the coming weeks. Review Destination Sign Project – The committee discussed Keith’s most recent proposal (Revision 3). There was agreement on the need to focus on destinations of interest (e.g., schools, conservation properties, recreation areas) beyond the center of town. Members asked to send their top 5 suggested destinations (served by the existing trail network) to Keith for continued discussion at the next meeting. The meeting adjourned at 5:35 pm.
