MITRE and Lincoln Labs • Lincoln Labs Dr Israel Soibelman o Origins started with the MIT RAD Lab o Serves as a Public Service for MIT o DOD Federally funded research center (DOD-FFRDC) ■ (3) exist in the USA o Lab is on Federal owned Government land (65 years old) o Mission areas (refer to power point presentation) changes over time o Programs focus. developing prototypes — devices & advanced tech o Approx 345 employees live in HATS town community • $1 B budget, $450M for procurement, $33M goes to HATS townsI • MIT Lincoln Lab Modernization o Replace 1950 existing labs that support MIT/LL mission o MILCON Labs — ■ Phase 1 — Compound Semiconductor Lab - FY17/FY19 Construction ▪ Phase 2 — Engineering & prototype (EPF) FY17/FY22 construction • MITRE Douglas Robbins, Director o An FFRDC since 1958 (operate 7 FFRDCs) o Systems Engineering and research & Development o Takes what comes out of labs and integrates and deploys technology o Expanding into health care, cybersecurity o 2,000 employees at Bedford campus / 900 staff work for the USAF o Campus modernization o Funding for capital improvements/expansion needs to go through federal funding process with DOD • BRAC impacts/implication o HATS very optimistic of investments being made at Lincoln labs and MITRE creates a positive outlook. o Hanscom AFB provides security for Lincoln Labs f I o Hanscom AFB has its own special niche and mission Air Force Base • General Thompson shall be circulating out of command in Spring 2017 Air Field — MassPort Community Advisory Committee: Hanscom Field Advisory Commission: • CAC — February 22nd meeting and Executive committee mtg held Feb. 14, 2017 - created RFP for HR firm to search for Exec Director • Pam Hill (Concord) — member of the executive committee o Schedule attendance to provide us an update • January 23rd - Gulf Stream aborted take-off event reported (no injuries —due instrumentation failure) Road Projects: • Minuteman Bikeway on the TIP 2019 Future Meetings and Main Agenda Items: • March — No meeting • April 27 — Massport Dr. Tom Glynn • May 25 — MBTA Paul Regan • June 22 —TBD • July 27 — TBD • August — No Meeting • September 28 —Task Force Update (John Beede) • October 26 — Colonel Hund • November 30 (or December 7) — TBD • Potential Guests/topics o Minuteman National Park— Supt. BJ Dunn o Minuteman Trail planning in Arlington, Cycling legislators, Agriculture Round Table o Roundtable topics. Transportation, Lt. Gov. Polito, Transportation Sec. Pollack Minutes — December 1, 2016 Meeting Motion Mr. Rosenberg moved to approve December 1, 2016 meeting minutes as is. Second: Mr. Braun seconded the motion. Discussion: There was no discussion on the motion. Vote: Approved 4-0-0 Adjourn Mr. Braun moved to adjourn. Mr Pato seconded the motion. The meeting was adjourned at 9:05 pm.
