Hund provided service bio o Network Communications for various Air force bases o Served on Air Force Central Cmdr (J6) HQ o Marone AFB (Spain — communications flight commander o Aviano Air Base (Italy) — served as Wing executive officer and communication flight commander o Langley AFB —Air combat command • Col Hund presentation — evolution and growth at Hanscom AFB (refer to Power point presentation attached or available on line o Defined the role of Hanscom AFB within the Air Force Material Command Center Mission Areas • Material Command — is in charge of weapons systems, mission systems, systems acquisition and sustainment across all Air Force platforms • Life Cycle Management Center— primary PEO at Hanscom AFB (General Patterson) • AFLCMC Leadership Team org chart • 66th Air Base Group Leadership o 66th ABG — Regional and Nationwide impact • Provides functional support to entire New England Region and New York • Serving 10,000 Active Duty, Reserve and National Guard Military and DOD Civilians • 130,000 military retirees and families o Hanscom AFB serves as the Center of Acquisition and Technology Development o Growth at Hanscom AFB ■ Over $500M has been invested at the base • MA National Guard Joint Force HQ ($52M) • MIT-LL Capital Improvement Project ($265M) • School buildings ($70M) • Base housing for all military personnel ($15M) ■ Vandenberg gate — o Design will provide better security and new visitors center for the base o Commonwealth of MA has granted transfer to Air Force - US Air force needs to accept transfer o USAF MIL CON has project funded — project should start by summer 2017 ■ Base Housing (Joint Housing) O 731 units — approx 2,400 residents O 94% occupancy — 42% are Air Force o Community Support ■ Partnerships between the AFB and HATS communities ■ Public Safety Partnerships — two-way support ■ Public School support • Hanscom Schools — 625 Students (pre-, Primary, Middle) — Lincoln support • Bedford High School — 116 students ■ Sports and Recreational Partnerships o Regional Partnerships ■ Commonwealth of MA — • Vandenberg Gate Land transfer • Workforce Development ■ Local Communities • Salt Brine road pre-treatment (USAF first IGSA) • STEM outreach ■ Education • UMass Lowell • NE University • Boston University o Industry partnerships ■ Connect military DOD with regional tech and entrepreneurs ■ 15 active CRADA's (Cooperative Research and Development Agreements) • Discussion: o NBC weather tower ■ Mr Braun informed the meeting the town of Lincoln has sent a letter of support for the project, and sees this as an opportunity to help support the base with added revenue o Shared Infrastructure at Hanscom • Mr. Rosenberg noted the success of the AFB serving as a place of collaboration is impacting traffic. He asked how can the base address the traffic congestion concerns? • Col Hund mentioned the Base has earned awards that offer van pooling He sees that the base can certainly address this with the neighboring towns The committee discussed possible solutions for MBTA bus to loop through the base? Additional van pooling? o 66 ABG Construction mgmt. staff • Mr. Ng applauded the Base for the incredible growth and investment that is ongoing How large is Col Hund's staff to manage all these projects? • Col Hund attributes the base's success to his staff's experience to be able to coordinate all these projects. o Col. Hund — clarified the fence line project that is between Hanscom field and the base. Still being developed • Mr Braun applauds the support that the Commonwealth has provide to the base • Mr. Rosenberg noted that not many people realize the immense reach that the base has in Massachusetts and the country. • HATS Committee thanked the Col. Hickey for visiting us this evening • Minute Man National Park Superintendent— Nancy Nelson • Superintendent Nelson informed us of her retirement from the National Park Service in January 2017 o Deputy Superintendent B J Dunn will be taking over command • Currently serving at the Independence National Park in Philadelphia Air Field — MassPort Community Advisory Committee; Hanscom Field Advisory Commission • December 4, 2016 P4 meeting • HFAC: December 20th monthly meeting o To discuss monthly noise report o Ongoing status of projects — repaving drive / ramps • Massport Community Advisory Committee (CAC) o Hanscom Field Director, Amber Goodspeed reported Executive CAC recently met in Brookline • 30 item agenda w/ a group meeting scheduled in December 2016 Rt. 2 and 128 Projects • October 31st. Final Surfacing on Route 2 • Route 2A resurfacing project (ongoing?) — HATS to initiate more coverage • Cambridge Turnpike Concord project— in design/engineering • Route 2 project (Lincoln) o Addressing failed landscape vegetation (dead trees) with Mass DOT o Trying to coordinate an event/celebration?
