a.Trimester 1 use of Teacherease went really well,at both schools.
i.Goal at progress report time T2,we will begin with the open gradebook.
Specific date TBD.
ii.Parents report that it was easy to navigate and straightforward.
iii.Students were also able to access their report card pretty easily.
iv.Teachers plan to continue working out how parent and child standards
interact and the final score that gets reported. The decaying weight
system is something that teachers still want to work out.
b.LEF has earmarked $7500 for community grant for Diamond. We hope to use
it for social/emotional learning goals.
i.After break,Marlon and Remy will meet with Suffolk to plan out tier 1
restorative justice training for all staff.
ii.We need to use our own funds, the district is not funding any.
iii.So far,we have 20+staff already tier 1 trained.
iv.Over the next year, using more circle practice will blend into our culture
and how teachers can use the practice.
c.The PTO would like to explore creating a new mascot. They like the idea of an
alternative to the drum. The student council will start to look into this. The drum
and acronym will not go anywhere.
d.We are taking the lost and found that has not been claimed and donate to a
local organization. The student council has been helping with this.First, they
sent out individual pictures of items for parents to check out.Anything left will
be donated.
e.Today,Riverside Counseling will be here at Diamond for teachers to debrief on
Middle East.It will also be open to students.
f.Student affinity groups to talk about the Middle East conflict are starting up
soon. Our DEI group met to plan out the WIN sessions. We still have more
planning to get it up and running.
i.Goals -Empathetic listening.Supportive listening.Feeling heard and
seen.
g.Our Renaissance Screeners will be happening next week. This will provide
additional data points for math and literacy. The goal is to check out how it
works, what data we are getting, and how helpful is the information it gives us
to inform our daily practice.
i.How can it help our SST practice? Can it predict learning loss from over
the summer? How can teachers use it to plan out their curriculum pacing
for the year?
ii.Data teams still need to determine what to do with the results of the
screener.Discussions are happening.
iii.Our department heads were very familiar with it.We are only using the
data to compare internally, not to national or state standards.
