REFERRAL COMMITTEE
Members: No less than five (5) and not more than nine (9)
members
Appointed by Board of Selectmen
Term Length: Until the end of the 2000 Annual Town Meeting
with a report to the Board of Selectmen at least one
month prior to the 2000 annual Town Meeting.
Description: The Article 17 (Fletcher Avenue) Land Use
Referral Committee is charged with assessing and
identifying all potential future municipal (both
school and town)uses for the land owned by the
Town of Lexington at the corner of Fletcher Avenue
and Massachusetts Avenue. The Committee shall
determine and assess whether it is possible and
appropriate to designate this parcel as either
conservation or park property In addition, the
committee should investigate and recommend
whether appropriate ways exist of securing a role
for town meeting if changes in use are proposed at
the site from what currently exists.
Criteria for
Membership: The Article 17 (Fletcher Avenue) Land Use
Referral Committee will have a member of the
Board of Selectmen as its chair, representatives
from the sponsors of Article 17 at the 1999 Annual
Town Meeting, as well as one member each to be
designated by the Conservation Commission,the
Center Committee,the School Committee,the
Planning Board and others as may be determined by
the Board.
Staff: Will be provided by the Town Manager's Office
and the Planning Department.
