Traffic Items Charlie Withrow, Lexington Police Department, discussed concern
for a pedestrian injury resulting from jay walking and lack of
observance of crosswalks by many drivers It was agreet that
education, rather than envorcement, would be preferred Educational
flyers, stickers for windows, reviewing the Center walk light and
the possibility of more crosswalks were all recommended Concern
for a crosswalk at Muzzey Stret for high school stucents was also
expressed, but it was mentioned that it would have to be made
accessible to the handicapped curb cuts
Vote Parking Space at the intersection of Mass Avenue and Meriam Street
was voted upon and approved to keep the space available for parking
It was found that two of the seven accidents occuring form 4/7/83
to 4/8/84 were from drivers hitting the pedestrian walk sign The
committee felt that the space is adequate and removal of the space is
not necessary
