Director of Public Facilities, Mike Cronin, gave an update on the Lower Level capital project. The project
was presented to the Select Board on October 16, 2023 and approved to continue in the design process.
Project budget cost estimates are being prepared by the architects in advance of Town Meeting. We
expect the project to qualify for some CPA funding support.
Administrative Updates
Director’s Report
Foundation/ChiRP:
o
Foundation have raised $200K so far for ChiRP.
o
The Foundation received fundraising support from CAAL’s Moon Festival as well as proceeds
from the IAL’s Diwali event.
o
Major Donor Event on Friday, 11/17/23
Carybokaflod will be returning for the second year the first week in December with multiple nights of
events.
In October, we noticed a library book display was taken down by a patron. Because the individual chose
to act without talking with us, we missed an opportunity to hear their specific concern.
Libraries in Massachusetts are seeing a rise in complaints about materials, programs, and displays. If at
all possible, Trustees are asked to encourage people to begin a conversation directly with staff so that
we can address complaints using established policies and procedures, and so that we can track the
number/type of complaints we are receiving.
New Business
FY23-25 Action Plan and Strategic Priorities documents - In order to maintain our certification for the
state, we have to regularly update our Cary Library Action Plan, Our Guiding Principles and our Strategic

updated the existing plans to meet the state requirement.
