Bikeway Commuter Breakfast May 17 - Susan Barrett is organizing. Keith and Yifang volunteered to represent GCC at planning meetings and staff a GCC information table at the event. Room for more participation as we get closer to the event. CLC Spring Walks - Contact Keith to lead a walk of your choosing. You should be somewhat knowledgeable of the points of interest along the route. 250th celebration - Peggy attended the January 30th Community Meeting. Format was small group discussions at tables with open ended brainstorming for event ideas, then a rep from each table summarized to full meeting. Official start is July 13, 2024, running through Summer of 2026. The main Patriots Day celebration will be on Saturday April 19, 2025 (rather than on Monday for safety). $500,000 grant money available. Peggy emphasized opportunity for GCC to participate. She and Keith discussed possible treasure hunt or geocaching at historical sites connected by Across Trails and Bikeway. Involve the Historical Society. Mike suggested a series of historical walks on days other than Patriots Day to get more participation, also a redo of the history of the bikeway walk which was held some years ago. Peggy also suggested GCC involvement in the Bikeway Block Party she is planning with Jim Cadenhead and Cristina Burwell for Sunday September 15 this year. Primary focus is on arts, music, and dance events. Keith proposed that GCC include an activity at the Bikeway Block Party as a trial run for one or more events in gaps in the 250th celebration. Ongoing Business Route 8 - Funding of the Land Management Plan from the Judy Record Fund has been approved. About $10000. Consultant to be hired. Expected completion with involvement of GCC summer/fall of this year. Boundary Surveying funding not yet identified - about $32000. Route 9 - all set to go except for approval by Dave Pinsonneault of signage at the Pleasant Street crossing. Bob will follow up. Proposed Rte 19/AGM/LVB connector - Harrington School is an issue since Lexington Housing Authority is not keen on permitting access to an ACROSS route and is not a Town property. There is an alternative utilizing a strip of town property out to Lowell Street between 366 and 374 Lowell Street. We should hold off until Recreation complete their work developing new playing fields on the site of the old Harrington School Administration building. The consensus of the group that it is better to put 19 on hold. Proposed Rte 22/Sanderson Connector - Consensus is to go ahead with Route 22. Call it O Route. Proposed Rte 23/Waterstone connector - MWRA canned it. There are two classes of Aqueduct and there are security issues and as a result we cannot create this path. Review Destination Sign Project - outline and revised draft (white and blue) shared with everyone. Feedback: Stick with distance and no need to state the time for walking or biking. Consensus seems to be to start with a pilot project and see if we need to put signs at every intersection, or just in a few spots. Mike agreed to create a concept for review at the next meeting. Next Meeting scheduled for 4-5.30 pm on March 14 at the Parker Room. Future Meeting Dates: April 11, May 9, June 13 Minutes by Bobak Moshiri
