Cary Hall Memorial Building Estabrook Hall, (lower level) 1605 Massachusetts Avenue Lexington, MA 02420 Board of Health Members in Attendance: Wendy Heiger-Bernays, PhD, Chair, David Geller, M.D., Sharon MacKenzie R.N., CCM, Health Division Attendees: Gerard F. Wendy Heiger-Bernays, PhD, served as Chair Person. Director Cody discussed the confirmed disease cases from January 2008 to January 2017. It was noted that ticks were a common primary source. The Environmental Health report was reviewed and the following topics were discussed; Cake Inc, Susan Ayero, Owner met with the BOH to request a permit to operate a Food Establishment. After some discussion, Sharon MacKenzie R.N., CCM, proposed a motion that stated, “The Lexington Board of Health grants an Annual Permit to Operate a Food Establishment to Cake Inc.” David Geller, M.D., seconded the motion, all were in favor. Shawn Newell, Assistant Director, Lexington Public Facilities Department, met with the board to discuss lead water testing in the Jonas Clark Middle School. Mr. Newell presented a 3 year plan of rotating testing for lead in the water fountains and sinks. The Board reviewed the State Sanitary Code Case for 6 Churchill Lane; a criminal complaint was filed by Director Cody on December 30, 2016. See minutes from October 2016 for further information. 24B Greeley Village; After corrective action by the Lexington Housing Authority, and additional complaints by the tenant, the Office of Public Health sent a letter to the MDPH Bureau of Indoor Air Quality to request an inspection of the property. The resulting inspection report has been received by the Office of Public Health. The report stated that the assigned staff was unable to conduct the assessment because he was asked to leave the property. Joe Onorato, Business Development, Vector Disease Control International, met with the Board to discuss the2016 Operations Report. Mr. Onorato discussed the results of the testing, and made suggestions for potential future testing. The Emergency Preparedness report was reviewed and the following topics were discussed. Region 4AB HMCC will host an Emergency Coordination Plan Table Top Exercise and workshop at the Crowne Plaza in Natick. The Lexington Health Director plans to attend to represent the Town of Lexington. Region 4AB Public Health plans to hire Harvard School of Public Health Emergency Preparedness Research, Evaluation and Practice Program (EPrep) to conduct facilitated training geared for public health departments. Sharon MacKenzie R.N., CCM, motioned that the meeting be adjourned and Wendy Heiger-Bernays, PhD, seconded. All were in favor. The meeting adjourned at 8:05 PM. It was noted that the next meeting will take place on Wednesday, March 15, 2017
