MARVIN & SON, 42 CONGRESS STREET 1860 AUDITORS' REPORT OF THE OF LEXINGTON ,TOWN FOR THE YEAR 1859-60, INCLUDING A LIST OF TAX—PAYERS , & c. BOSTON : PRESS OIC' 'T it. 'MARVIN & SON, 42 CONGRESS STREET. 1860. f . AUDITORS' REPORT . THE Auditors have examined all the bills and accounts furnished them by the Selectmen, including a copy of the settlement with the Treasurer, and find them generally correct. It is very difficult and perplexing to arrive at a balance in a proper way, owing mainly, to the practice of settling with the Treasurer before the close of the financial year ; and they would earnestly recommend that the annual settlement with the Treasurer be hereafter deferred till the last day of March, which, by a vote of the town passed in 1858, is the expiration of the financial year. SYLVANUS W. SMITH, . SIDNEY G. DAVIS, Auditors. CHAS. H. BENNETT, r I a The Selectmen settled with Nathaniel Mulliken, Town Treasurer, March 22, 1860, found his accounts accurately kept, and that the Receipts have been as follows, viz. : .., Rec'd of James S.
