Reports/Updates:
0 Grove St is still with Planning Board after Ginna Johnson requested that the developer
come back with a more site sensitive plan. It will come up again with PB on June 7. GCC will
continue to monitor this project.
The Weston Open Space team came for a consultation on our ACROSS system, along with
a Newton Town employee. Arlington has also expressed interest in an ACROSS project.
Keith has mentioned this interest by other communities to Carol Kowalski.
A British guy is interested in creating a podcast about ACROSS. He has interviewed Keith
and Peggy and will send us a draft before it gets posted. We will have a link for the ACROSS
site.
In the fall we will go back to the 4th Monday meetings, beginning with September 25. Next
meetings will be June 12 and July 10.
• There is a temporary hold on the Mill St trail due to a legal challenge by the City of Cam-
bridge. The Planning Board and Conservation Commission are working on the situation.
Mike and Eileen will scout the trail and the proposed bridge location, and keep abreast of the
situation over the summer.
Ongoing Business:
• Route H - Bob and Eileen have put up lots of Route Markers and Arrows. There is a post
needed in Hayden Woods where the route turns a corner. Bob will walk the route in the op-
posite direction to confirm signage and add necessary markers. At the Lincoln St corner, the
Town has removed the stumps and boulders. Coppersmyth Way residents have agreed to
having and ACROSS sign on their signpost.
• The trail behind Coppersmyth Way should be rerouted. Scouts could do it, and it is on Jor-
dan McCarron’s list.
• The newest ACROSS map can now be uploaded to the website.
New Business:
Glenn Parker is making a simplified ACROSS map for use in the June 17 Longest Day Alz-
heimer’s Walk. It will be useable on various devices.
The Massachusetts Trails Conference is November 3 & 4, 2017. We could present a work-
shop on ACROSS Lexington. Planning to update the presentation that Keith and Eileen did
for MAPC a couple of years ago. Don and Alex agreed to help. Funds to create a profes-
sional presentation can be arranged from the Rick Abrams trust.
What should be the next ACROSS Route? Homework for next meeting - rank some possibili-
ties for discussion in June. Areas to consider: Liberty Heights/West Farm, North Lexing-
ton/Wright Farm, Cotton Farm/Pelham Rd, Mill St/Cranberry Hill.
Michelson’s Shoe Store is interested in sponsoring a fundraising trail race. This might be in
conjunction with Discovery Day 2018. Keith spoke with Michelle Ciccolo about the possibility
and the Town involvement.
