Meeting Attendees: Members - Archana Singhal ,Lisah Rhodes, Alessandro Alessandrini, Nancy Adler, Dan Palant, Nancy Shepard (Chair), Ex-Officio Member Attendees: Sheila Butts (Community Center Director), Peter Coleman (Asst. Director of Recreation & Community Programs) Charlotte Rodgers (Director of Human Services) Hemali Patel (Senior Services Coordinator) Tom Romano (Youth Services Coordinator) Unable to attend: John Zhu. The meeting was called to order at 7:00pm. 1. Introductions All attendees introduced themselves. 2. Thank You Members of the Committee thanked Sheila for her services to our committee and to the town. th There will be a Coffee for her on Friday, May 6 (her last day) at 10am. Christine Dean will st start on May 1. 3. Minutes of March 23, 2017 The minutes from the March 23rd meeting were reviewed and unanimously accepted. 4. Liaison Reports We talked about Art Displays at the Community Center (CC). There is a committee that meets and reviews slides from Artists who are interested in displaying their work at the Cary Library and the CC. The Cary Library is working on a Peace Art Project that is funded by the Moskow Family Fund that was set up in memory of their son Eric. Nancy will talk to the library about whether the Project might be displayed at the CC after it is on display at the Cary. 2 Archana reported on some upcoming programs. She will send flyers to Committee members about the Holi Festival that will take place at Hastings Park and the Multiple th Pathways to Success program on June 10 at LHS. rd Lisah reported on the Sustainable Energy Workshop at Cary Library on May 3. If the town can get 1200 people to do energy audits, the town will receive a $45,000 grant. Nancy will work on a meeting schedule for next year. 5. Programming at the Community Center Special Events: th o Tom reported that the end of summer party will be held this year on August 25. th. The Cradles to Crayons Toy Drive will continue until Saturday. April 29 A CEL grant has been submitted for CPR courses. If funded, the grant would allow for 8 classes (2 per season) that are open to anyone and also a Train the Trainer course. In the fall, the SADD club from LHS will offer a Games Night and a Haunted House. o Dana Home Grant application update: The Forever Fit program will be funded again. o Human Services Update: Hemali reported that the Volunteer Appreciation luncheon was held today. There has been over 10,000 volunteer hours this past year. A program initiated by a Girl Scout Gold Award project will provide tech support for seniors on an ongoing basis. The plan is to have the program continue with other students in the future. There will be a Duck Tour in August for Grandparents and Grandkids. A Tall Ships trip is planned. The trip is full. There is no way to add an additional bus because of space constraints in Boston. Charlotte is working on a Friends Book rotation for the CC. Wendy Carleton and Dick Moscow go to the library to rotate the books the last Wednesday of each month. Nancy is reaching out to the library to start of rotation of books for the newly set up A new staff member will be hired to replace Kelly Axtell, who is now working in the ce. The was a Suicide Information Program that was offered in response to recent student suicides. It was attended by over 150 people. 6. CCPAC 2018-2019 Goals o Nancy did a preliminary set of goals for our committee. We discussed what might be added. It was decided to add reaching out to other communities about programming at their Community Centers to get ideas for what we might do. We will also focus on increasing awareness of our committee and to solicit feedback and suggestions from members of the community. o Sheila suggested that we consider holding a Meet and Greet at the CC for our committee to interact with the community. It was also suggested that we have some way to solicit suggestions. 7. th o ld on April 11. The purpose is to foster collaboration between groups offering programs in town. The groups invited to attend were Hayden, 3 Cary Library, Lextended Day, Community Ed, SNAP, Munroe, LACS, LexFUN, Recreation and Human Services. It was suggested that a representative for our committee should also attend as well as someone from Minuteman Tech. The next meeting is May th 24 at 1pm at Hayden. The location of the meeting will rotate. th o On May 11, there will be a meeting of the Planning Board to look at municipal uses for the Pelham Property. There will be a tour at 5:30pm followed by a meeting at 6. Sandro will email the dates for these meetings. o Rental fees for the CC continue to be worked on and a proposal will be presented to the Selectmen soon. th Next Meeting: May 18 at 7pm Meeting Adjourned at 8:45.
