Meeting Attendees: Members - Alessandro Alessandrini, Nancy Adler, Dan Palant, Lisah Rhodes, John Zhu Unable to attend: Nancy Shepard, Archana Singhal Staff Attending: Sheila Butts (Community Center Director), Melissa Battite (Director of Recreation & Community Programs, Thomas Romano, Community Center Youth and Family Coordinator Citizens Attending: Kathleen Lenihan The meeting was called to order at 7:OOpm. 1. Citizens and Other Boards Kathleen Lenihan, Lexington School Committee was introduced to the CCPAC members in attendance. 2. Minutes of February 23, 2017 The minutes from the February meeting were reviewed and unanimously accepted. 3. Liaison Reports None 4. Pelham Road Property • The plans for the Pelham Property are moving forward. Special Town Meeting approved design monies the portion of the building to be used by Children's Place (Article 4). Town Meeting is scheduled to discuss and vote on funding for the design monies earmarked for the Municipal side of the facility (gym, cafeteria, one classroom) under Article 16e on March 29th. • The Committee had an in-depth discussion about the benefits of using the Pelham Road facility as an annex to the Community Center, and for numerous ongoing Recreation Division programs. Melissa Battite and Sheila Butts told the Committee that they had 2 participated in a tour of the building and described the rooms that could be available for use by the Community -at -large. Thomas Romano had taken pictures during the tour and those were made available to the members. • The Committee also discussed potential programs that could be offered at Pelham, including new activities such as pickle ball, futsol, teen drop-in and scheduled activities, and over -enrolled Adult and Senior programs such as 60+ Fitness, Special Senior Luncheons, and Ping Pong Activities. • Nancy Adler made the following motion: "The Community Center Program Advisory Committee supports approval of Article 16e." The motion was seconded by Lisah Rhodes and approved unanimously. The committee further recommended that Chair Nancy Shepard ask to be recognized at the March 29th session of Town meeting to offer the above statement of support by the CCPAC. 5. Programming at the Community Center and Community Center Director's Report • Thomas Romano told the Committee about the planned Second Annual End of the Summer Party on August 25th. The event will include food trucks, a DJ, games, and an outdoor movie. In the event of rain the majority of activities can take place inside the building. • Sheila Butts and Melissa Battite updated the Committee on the Community CPR classes currently being run by the Recreation and Community Programs Department and the Human Services Department. • The Community Center Division has submitted grant proposals to both the Community Endowment of Lexington and the Dana Home Foundation. • Charlotte Rodgers was unable to attend the CCPAC meeting, but staff reported that registration for May/June Human Services Department programs will begin on April 12th. • CPR Classes were discussed. The next Community Center Program Advisory Committee meeting will be held on APRIL 27th at 7pm. Meeting adjourned at 8:45.
