Approval of Minutes
Survey.
Tony and Abhijit distributed a revised survey reflecting comments received.
The tradeoff section will be revised further because not all pairs need to be there. The
Steering Committee was asked to endorse the substance and structure of this final draft.
Candy will send it out to all Steering Committee members via email, asking them to read
it carefully and possibly test it out on a few other people.Final comments need to be
received by Tony and Abhijit by January 16.
We plan to mail out the survey around February 1 with a return date of February 24.
Preliminary results will be available before Town Meeting, final results by the end.
Promotional ideas include an article in the Minuteman and mentioning the survey in
cover letters going out with copies of the report. The Selectmen did not approve the
request for a banner across Massachusetts Avenue because of the precedent it might set.
Report to Joint Boards.
The Steering Committee will present the Status Report to a
joint meeting of the Board of Selectmen, School Committee, and Planning Board on
January 22 at 7:00 p.m. Eva Heney will be there from the Minuteman and may be able to
do an article; Candy will get her a copy of the report. The presentation will be brief on
process, with more attention paid to product and next steps. Candy will follow up on
who can participate in the presentation.
Road Show
. We will focus on getting the word out between the January 22 report date
and the February 24 survey response date. A series of Minuteman articles about the five
themes, giving examples, raising questions, and stating conflicts, will help to engage the
community's interest. There was discussion about how to get 2020 Vision on the agenda
for boards, community groups, etc. Suggestions included reaching out to the PTA
Council, the Council on Aging, pre-election forums, and precinct officers for Town
Meeting. Candy is developing a standard presentation and will make copies of an
Expanded Executive Summary as a handout. Steering Committee members and
participants can be recruited as speakers.
Implementation Planning.
There will be one last Steering Committee meeting to
discuss implementation issues and organize the Implementation Committee. Steering
Committee members will be polled before then as to their continuing energy and interest.
