Re: 57 Bedford Street - Sign application
The Design Advisory Committee (DAC) reviewed the proposed signs at our meeting on 21 February 2017 and
had the following comments and recommendations.
After reviewing the application, the DAC determined that the sign as presented is acceptable and recommend
approval of this application pending compliance with the following conditions & recommendations.
1. The proposed six inch square posts shall be painted with the same aluminum -silver color as the directory
tenant panel background.
2. Revise notation on sheet S1 to indicate that the directory sign is double sided.
3. The sign panel shall have no more than three tenant panels on each side when installed or in the future
without further approval.
4. Maximum sign body height shall be five feet and maximum sign body width shall be seventy-two inches.
5. Clearance between bottom of sign and the ground shall be twenty-four inches.
6. Bottom of concrete post footings shall be thirty-six inches from ground level.
7. Sign shall not be internally or externally illuminated without further approval.
8. Sign and sign posts shall be centered on lawn/landscape area and installed as far away from the sidewalk as
possible or a minimum of eighteen inches from the back of the sidewalk.
9. The Committee recommends either replacing the entire lawn or adding a planting bed twenty-four inches
wide and eight -nine inches long below the sign This will reduce maintenance damage to the sign &
posts. Any planting should not grow more than thirty -inches high.
10. The color of the body of sign shall be a dark gray, not black.
If any further changes are made to the sign, location or project scope as presented the DAC asks that the applicant
notify the DAC for review and approval prior to implementation of any changes.
