Principal's Report:
• LEF Grant Update: submitted - Drummers from Mali during World Language Week and
PTA will pay for them to stay on; incentive items for DRUM Shoutouts; funding the
painting of a mural - stipend for teachers to work with students
• PTA club stipends: Currently paid to staff through PTA funds. District plan is to
eliminate the payment for clubs through PTA. Plans are in place to communicate to
schools. We have 14 clubs. For next year, could be volunteers; ask for stipends to get
added to next contract; or PTA brings in outside groups. Parent is talking to LEF for
potential of donations from PTA to fund clubs through LEF grants in the future.
• PTA Coffees: Next coffee is Friday, January 13. Presentation by counseling and social
work staff.
• January 12 PD Day: Two staff members who are taking a course on trauma based
learning have organized the PD afternoon with offerings "giving staff what they need ".
Teachers can sign up for sessions that appeal to them. Theory is that when a person
gets what they need, they are better suited to help others.
• Parent Conference Survey: 180 responses so far. Jen will create a more formal
presentation and send out with next newsletter. Still need to drill down on the data to
figure out why parents are coming in for a conference. Is there a different model that
can meet that purpose? Will have focus groups to get information from staff.
• Principal's Mid -Year Assessment: Time to get a sense on how she is working on the
entry plan goals. Superintendent will come to meet with staff next week to get feedback.
Jen will put out a survey for staff to complete on Monday. Looking for feedback from
parents, but may wait for end of year instead of mid -year.
• SIP Mid -Year Assessment: Next meeting to draft a review of the school improvement
plan goals.
Staff Report
• Room Moves Committee: Recommendations on how rooms will be arranged when all
construction has been completed. Three meetings so far. Working on communication
plan for staff throughout the process. Philosophy statement (first priority is to try to keep
teams and World Language together as much as possible) was created and then first
round of working out classroom placements.
• Child Study Process: Update on the child study teams that meet weekly. Online forms
have been created and will help with the communication process between teams and
with all teachers. Using google docs for note - taking and attaching student work. Goals
of giving different perspective and new ideas, with also trying to meet the needs quicker
for students who are struggling.
Member Input
• Question if getting student feedback would be helpful for the principal's self- assessment.
Considering putting together an advisory group for students, similar format to staff
advisory group.
Next Meeting: February 2, 2017
