HomeMy WebLinkAbout2016-11-30-TOUR2-minTown of Lexington Tourism Committee Dawn McKenna, Chair (781) 862 -0500 ext 84585 Minutes Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at 4:30 — 6:00 pm Parker Room (Lower level Town Office Building) Members Present: Kerry Brandin, Margaret Coppe, Bebe Fallick, Jon Himmel, Dawn McKenna, Wim Nij enberg Staff Present: Megan Zammuto Center Committee Liaison: Fred Johnson Members Absent: Marsha Baker, Trisha Kennealy, Leeying Wu 1) Center Streetscape statement of support Jon Himmel discussed a draft motion in support of the work done by the Center Streetscape Design Review AdHoc Committee. Jon gave the committee an update on the work that has been completed to date, and the effort to preserve the current character of the center. The committee discussed the Battle Green Master Plan. The committee worked to edit the draft motion. The discussion also focused on brick sidewalks and cost of materials. A motion was made to convey the support of the Tourism Committee to the Center Streetscape Design Review Adhoc Committee. The motion was seconded and supported unanimously. 2) Visitors Center Petition and funding Dawn McKenna discussed the draft warrant article for a new Visitors Center. The committee discussed the challenges and benefits of submitting the warrant as a committee or as an individual. It was decided that the warrant will go forward as an individual petition with the support of several committee members. A motion was made that the Tourism Committee would submit a citizens petition to fund the Visitors Center project for the 2017 Annual Town Warrant. The motion was seconded and supported unanimously. 3) Minutes The committee made a motion to approve the minutes of the November 9"' meeting. The motion was seconded and voted unanimously. 4) Tourism Operations — Staff Updates Megan Zammuto discussed the hiring process for the Liberty Ride Coordinator position. Three candidates will be interviewed by a panel this week. Other operations include the pursuit of a map of Lexington center as well as hiring a photographer for digital marketing content. 5) Committee Marketing Strategy The committee plans to vote on the Revolutionary Revelry program at the December 14"' meeting.
