Veterans’ Breakfast, November 5
Sandy Podgorski reported the decisions of the breakfast door prize sub-committee:
The process for awarding and distributing the door prizes will remain the same as in previous
o
years.
Each veteran gets one ticket. Tickets will be given only to veterans. Two people working at the
o
ticket table will request veteran’s information (name, address, email address, branch of service,
etc.) on a file card. The card will then be used as the door prize ticket. Ticket table will be
located away from the sign-in table, to prevent congestion.
Tickets (file cards) go into one basket from which door prize tickets will be drawn.
o
Prizes will be delivered to tables by TCC members.
o
Bill Mix suggested that we ask Gina Rada to be at the ticket table.
Karen confirmed that Msgr. Garrity of St. Brigid’s will offer the invocation at the breakfast.
There was a discussion about the use of sandwich boards to advertise the breakfast. Karen is in contact
with Hank Manz about using boards that the scouts have. Suzanne and Karen will take care of getting
permission to post a board at Depot Square.
Rich McDonough reported that he has spoken with Susan Carabbio of the Rotary Club and she plans to
attend one of the TCC meetings before the breakfast. Don Martini is the Rotary contact for the
breakfast.
Bob Tracey reported that Wagon Wheel has agreed to loan us flowers for the table centerpieces. They
have also donated a fruit basket as a door prize.
Sandy showed the video of pictures of Lexington veterans that will be shown at the breakfast.
Rich raised a question about whether security might be an issue at the breakfast. After discussion, the
committee decided that there was no need to arrange any security.
Linda Dixon reported that the article that she gave to the Colonial Times about the breakfast was not
included in the most recent edition. She plans to send an article about the breakfast to the Minuteman
paper next week.
It was determined that checks for the breakfast should be made out to the Town of Lexington, with a
notation on the memo line that the check is for the TCC Veterans’ breakfast.
Veterans Day Parade and Program, November 11
Linda Dixon presented the draft Veterans’ Day program developed by the program sub-committee. The
separate items were discussed and approved by the committee.
Rich McDonough and Glen Bassett will be co-MCs for the program.

Lexington can be used to ring 11 times during the moment of silence at the start of the program.
Rich McD reminded the program sub-committee to add to the MC’s script a request that everyone in the
audience silence their cell phones.
Julie Miller reported that she spoke with the “Remembering Lexington” group about interviewing
Purple Heart recipients.
Linda D showed the committee the invitation to the Veterans Day ceremonies created by Kim Coburn.
The invitation will be sent to all identified Lexington veterans.
