The minutes of May 25, 2016 were approved. Lorain introduced a new subcommittee member, June Baer. The committee re-elected Lorain Marquis as chairman, Linda Dixon and Suzanne Caton as co- secretaries for the coming year. Rich McDonough will step down from his current position of Co- Chair but will remain a member of the committee. Memorial Day Recap The Committee discussed issues related to the Memorial Day ceremonies and suggestions for future attention: Rain cancellation of the parade was not advertised on the Town web site or on the TCC web page. In the future, the committee should make sure that resources to update the Town web site are available over the holiday weekend. Any celebration cancellations should be conveyed to the Visitors’ Center, since many people check with the Visitors’ Center about holiday activities. The committee should investigate whether there is a different microphone that can be used indoors by the vocalist. The vocalist singing the Star-Spangled Banner and other songs could not be heard over the Lexington High School Band at Cary Hall. The committee should review all web reference boiler plate text used going forward to make sure that the correct web page is referenced. Currently, many instances of web page references point to the Patriots’ Day web page, which is not appropriate for other holidays. The committee should be prepared with scripts for indoor ceremonies, in addition to the standard outdoor ceremony scripts, in case the outdoor ceremonies have to be cancelled due to bad weather. Other Business Lorain reminded the committee of the Langley Winds concert on June 9. Since the Memorial Day and Veterans Day ceremonies currently are very similar, Linda Dixon suggested that the committee consider ways to differentiate them in the future. The previously scheduled committee meeting on June 22 has been cancelled. The next scheduled meeting will be on September 21, location to be determined. The meeting was adjourned at 8:00 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Suzanne Caton, Co-Secretary Future Meetings September 21
