Individual Updates
Wayne Miller: Will pick up microphones at Visitors Center and have on the bus at 8:30.
Bob Tracey: Will pick up wreaths and water.
Bill Mix: Worked out with Narrator Gresh Lattimore the proper protocol and sequence for giving commands to
salute at the wreath laying sites.
Kim Coburn: Katherine Courtemanche will again sing the National Anthem with the LHS Band. Trumpeters
Derek Schneider and Justin Oh will play Taps and Echo.
Linda Dixon: Articles about the Grand Marshal Bill Tighe and Keynote Speaker will be in the Colonial Times
and Lexington Minuteman this week. Grand Marshal will arrive at police station at 9:30 a.m. Speaker will go
directly to the Green. Clergy all set.
Carol Flynn: Will arrange for Girl Scout representation.
Sandy Podgorski: Has received permission from DPW to place six flags around memorial World War I trees on
the Green.
Suzanne Caton: Has prepared scripts for Narrator and Master of Ceremonies as well as program of the day.
Lorain Marquis: Parking meters in front of Cary Hall will be bagged and “no parking” signs will be placed
along the stretch of Massachusetts Avenue in front of Buckman Tavern. Facilities will provide the podium,
microphone and 20 chairs for the ceremony on the Green.
The Committee and Narrator then reviewed the sequence of events for Memorial Day in detail, making
adjustments and fine-tuning where necessary. Sam Doran explained the details of the Civil War observance at
Munroe Cemetery. Because extremely warm weather is expected, we won’t plan to wear our committee
windbreaker jackets, but we will wear our Tricorne hats and official nametags.
Other Business
We will print 400 flyers for the Langley Winds concert on June 9.
Former member Dick Crogan has submitted paperwork to be reappointed to the committee and Lorain
expects to have another new committee member soon.
Diana Bishop has decided not to request reappointment because her travel schedule makes attendance at
meetings difficult.
Our current meeting space will not be available for next year’s cycle; we will meet in the Parker Room
at Town Hall.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:40 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Linda Dixon, Co-Secretary
