Brief Committee Assignment Reports
Rich McDonough: Still trying to find automobiles to carry award winners in parade. Only have
2 at this point.
Diana Bishop: VIP responses received. Working with Cerise to allocate tickets.
Cerise: Have run out of tickets for the morning reviewing stand and bleachers so will start a
waiting list and any tickets returned will be allocated to people on the list. Parking tags are
ready for TCC members.
Bob Tracey: Water for parade all set.
Kim: Trumpeter for Patriots’ Day will be Derek Schneider. Vocalist will be Katherine
Courtemanche.
Suzanne: All sponsorship money has been received and sponsorships have been assigned by
Dick Michelson, with help from Linda Dixon. Suzanne will contact the sponsors this week to
let them know their assignments.
Karen Gaughan: Last year’s Minuteman Cane winner will not be available to ride in this year's
parade. Each golf cart needs to have two rosters: one regular numeric-order and one
alphabetized roster. A list was created for requests for rosters and sent around to TCC members
so Suzanne will know how many copies to make.
Carol Flynn: Still does not have Girl Scout names for the morning ceremony but will have
them by April 18.
Sandy Podgorski: Has updated the calendar to add the Old Guard events.
Sondra Lucente: Will talk with Susan O'Keefe, the parade narrator, to review the marching unit
Media Forms. Sondra agreed to get copies of the Media Forms and give them to LexMedia.
Paul Jenkins: John P Carroll’s van will be used to collect banners after the parade. Banners will be
stored at Paul’s house after the parade.
Wayne: Will pick up the parade number stakes after the parade, with Bob Tracy.
Julie: Reminded committee that TCC members have to be posted at the corner of Mass Ave and
Worthen Rd, to make sure the parade marching units keep going to the HS parking lot. In the past, units
have stopped at the corner and not proceeded to the HS parking lot, causing a parade traffic jam.
Florence Del Santo: Jim Shaw and Colleen (?) will be broadcasting the parade from in front of the
library. They will need an updated roster before the parade starts. Florence also mentioned that
LexMedia will broadcast that the Old Guard will be performing on the weekend.
Linda Dixon: Still need more parade ambassadors. TCC suggested that Boy Scouts can be reassigned to
march as parade ambassadors if not enough other people sign up. There are 24 sponsors for the parade
this year. Linda also asked that the TCC members on golf carts make sure that the parade ambassadors
stay close to the units they are attached to.
Linda Levitt: Lanyards for the TCC members are ready and were distributed to the members during the
meeting. Any lanyards not distributed will be given to Lorain.
Patriots Day, Monday, April 18, 2016
New Unit Approved:Lorain announced that the Lexington Police Explorer Post will be added to the
parade as a marching unit.
Parade Lineup: A draft of the afternoon parade roster was sent to the TCC before the meeting. Those
committee members who want to suggest changes to the lineup will gather after the TCC meeting has
adjourned. A final roster will be created by Suzanne and 3 versions will be made: one with the units
listed in numerical order, one with the units listed in alphabetical order, and one with triple spacing, to
be used at the parade check-in desk. Rosters will be distributed to TCC members before the parade.
Golf Carts: Only 8 golf carts will be needed on Patriots’ Day so TCC should ask DPW to keep the 2
extras at their facility. TCC members have been assigned to carts. Kim will send out the list.
Old Guard schedule:
Since the TCC did not receive information about the Old Guard performances until this
week, no advertising is possible to be done by the TCC. Lorain asked that some TCC members attend the the
Old Guard free concert on Friday evening, April 15 at 7:30 p.m. at Cary Hall, gathering at 6:30.
No transportation will be provided by the TCC to the lunch being provided at Brookhaven for the Old Guard.
Parade stakes
: TCC members should meet at 3:30 pm on Sunday in front of the East Lexington Fire House to
help install the stakes with roster numbers.
Water distribution: Cases of water will be delivered to the HS parking lot on Monday morning, for use by the
TCC.
Morning Parade: Lorain reviewed the morning parade roster and the script for the ceremonies on the green
after the morning parade.
Radios for parade: Paul handed out instructions on how to use the radios. Those TCC members who will be
using the radios will gather with Paul after the TCC meeting to see how to operate them.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Suzanne Caton, Co-Secretary
