HomeMy WebLinkAbout2016-11-09-TOUR2-minTown of Lexington Tourism Committee Dawn McKenna, Chair (781) 862 -0500 ext 84585 Minutes Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at 4:30 — 6:00 pm Parker Room (Lower level Town Office Building) Members Present: Kerry Brandin, Margaret Coppe, Bebe Fallick, Jon Himmel, Dawn McKenna, Wim Nij enberg Staff Present: Megan Zammuto Center Committee Liaison: Fred Johnson Members Absent: Marsha Baker, Trisha Kennealy, Leeying Wu 1) Center Streetscape Jon Himmel discussed the Center Streetscape Design Review AdHoc Committee. The project has been under design for a number of years. Jon is looking for the Tourism Committee to formally endorse the work the AdHoc committee. Jon read a motion that he prepared and the committee asked questions. The committee will review an updated version of the motion at the November 30th meeting, and vote to approve the motion at that time. 2) Minutes The committee reviewed and voted to approve the minutes from the Tourism Committee Meeting held on October 26th. The motion was approved unanimously. 3) Masha Traber Retirement Party The committee discussed the upcoming retirement celebration for Liberty Ride Coordinator Masha Traber. 4) Committee Marketing Strategy The committee continued the discussion of the tourism committee marketing strategy. Members asked what role the committee should play in event planning in the future. The committee also discussed international marketing priorities and the interest in a study researching the impact of a new visitors center. The committee decided to continue the marketing strategy discussion at the next meeting. 5) Staff Updates & Miscellaneous Megan Zammuto discussed a potential contract with a tourism /branding photographer that could help to create contact for web and print advertising. The committee was interested in this augmenting marketing content for future projects. Adjourned at approximately 6:OOp.m. Respectfully submitted, Megan J.
