The committee asked to show the group attractive websites from other municipalities including Plymouth, Provincetown and Salem. The committee members voiced concerns, by stating that it looks extremely dated, and it is not the latest technology. Some committee members expressed that this is a mediocre website and it shows the lack of commitment to Tourism in Lexington. Committee members expected to see another version of the site before the actual creation of the site. Members were frustrated that they received funding to go forward with a site that was never created. Some members thought leaving the current website would be an improvement instead of going to a new site. Town staff explained the goals of the new Lexington website, including cohesion, mobile accessibility, ability and ease of editing and creation of content. The committee and staff discussed the fundamental disagreement when it comes to creating a tourism site. Carol Kowalski recommended the exploration of creating a DMO as other municipalities have done to embrace tourism. Town staff agreed to pass the concerns along to Webmaster Kathy Santos. As we move forward, Kathy will bring pages of the website to the committee for their review. Members would also prefer a link to the website so that they can experience the site on their computer and mobile phone. The committee discussed interest and seeing what has been created to date, and consider working with what we have already created. Committee members pointed out errors and suggestions on the current Tour Lexington website. Megan made a note to pass corrections along to IT as they are the only staff with the ability to edit the Tour Lexington website. Adjourned at approximately 4:00 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Megan J.
