Ms.Lisa Colagiovanni,Faculty Rep Agenda Notes Apologies from Jackie for not being in attendance. 1.Welcome everyone Introduce new Parent Rep-Rachel Levy Rachel will introduce herself to the council ●Introductions ● 2.Approval of minutes from October 19th,2023 found HERE ●Minutes from the Oct.19th meeting were approved. ●Ryan approved and Liz seconded the motion. 3.New Meeting Dates-following discussion at the last meeting. December 15,2023 January 5,2024 (Potential conflict w/MS Conference Day for Melissa) February 2,2024 March 8,2024 April 26,2024 May 31,2024 4.Updated School Innovation Plan Progress is now linked HERE PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports)-Hawks acronym created to support PBIS ●Part of school Innovation Plan is to look at progress toward MTSS (Multi-tiered System of Support) ●Looking for all the areas in the school where positive behavior exists ●Reviewed expectations (HAWKS)as well as positive reinforcement procedures at Harrington ●At recent staff meeting,we reviewed our 2011 HAWKS Behavior Matrix to determine what changes/improvements we can make - what do we want to keep,what do we want to change ●Ryan suggested a column on the behavior matrix for times when students are using technology ●Rory brought up possibility of getting ideas from students (student agency) ●Rory opened question to the group ●Ryan mentioned that there can be social difficulties during recess ●Melissa suggested highlighting the collaboration that occurs on the soccer fields between students ●Melissa added that students would take positive messages they heard from staff and repeat it to each other. ●Ryan suggested empowering students by asking each other,“think about what your coach would say ” ●Rachel added that it ’s important to cultivate respect and tolerance when it comes to student effort (finishing first, competition,etc.) ●Melissa brought up how it can be difficult to always witness students who have done positive things (equity of Hawks sightings,etc.)-maybe a few times a year,students could write their own Hawk sighting -what did you do that you are proud of?Helps when teachers don’t see it all. ●Rory mentioned we are looking at also creating an electronic version of the HAWKS sighting to improve efficiency and make it easier 5.Administrators goals for this year 6.PBIS Update ●Still dealing with the fallouts of COVID ●We are looking at what are some of the things we can do to identify areas of growth for students (UDL,etc) ●What are we doing as a school to work on closing the achievement gaps? ●This is a district effort to take a look at disproportionality across all of the school levels (elementary,middle and high school) ●We have had discussions as a school regarding MCAS scores ●Rory said that we are looking at our whole intervention system ●Rachel suggested that she hopes the district is looking at it as a whole child approach when looking at the scores. New business:●Melissa made a motion to adjourn and was seconded by Ryan.Motion was approved. Meeting adjourned at 9:18.
