Chair Paul O’Shaughnessy called the January 4, 2024 Historic Districts Commission meeting to
order at 6:04pm.
FORMAL HEARING
Chair Paul O’Shaughnessy opened the formal hearing for 8 Slocum Road, exterior alterations
(Lamp Post) in the Munroe Tavern Historic District

The applicants explained the proposed lamp post plans to 8 Slocum Road.
The Commission felt this application was appropriate with one caveat that the post needs to be painted to
match trims on house.

Motion was granted and seconded to issue a Certificate of Appropriateness for exterior changes to
8 Slocum Road with one caveat that the post needs to be painted to match trim on house. Motion
carried, all in favor.

The applicants explained the proposed rooftop solar panels plans to 17 Hancock Street.
Paul O’Shaughnessy will serve as liaison for this application. The Commission conditionally approve this
application. The solar panels on the south facing roof were needed to be reframed so that there will be
more symmetry between the panel distances on the front edge, top edge, and bottom edge.
Deborah Fortin, 6 Hancock Avenue, expressed she was in support of the solar project at 17 Hancock
Street.
Paul O’Shaughnessy made a motion to approve the proposed rooftop solar panels plans with
regards to the solar panels on the south facing roof were needed to be reframed with the adjustment
in space to center up as discussed, still biased to the street but centered otherwise. A Certificate of
Appropriateness will be issued based on a revised drawing with regards to a duplicate of those 2
columns matching to solve the setback issue. Edward Adelman seconded. Roll Call Vote: Richard
Neumeier – Yes, Lee Noel Chase – Yes, Robin Lovett – No, Paul O’Shaughnessy – Yes, Dan Hisel –
Yes, Edward Adelman – Yes. Motion carried. The majority in favor.

Chair Paul O’Shaughnessy opened the continued hearing for 1 Bedford Street, exterior changes
(Signage) in the Battle Green Historic District

INFORMAL HEARING
Side Entrance Repair – First Parish in Lexington at 7 Harrington Road
The Commission reviewed the proposed side entrance repair plans for First Parish in Lexington at 7
Harrington Rd. This application will come back as formal hearing within 2 months.
