MEETING OF AUGUST 25, 1999
The meeting of the Lexington Planning Board held in the Selectmen's Room Town Office Building,was
called to order at 7.40 p.m. by Chairman Davies with members Bridge-Denzak, Colman,Merrill, Planning
Director Bowyer, and Assistant Planner Garber present. Mr. Galaitsis was absent.

At 7.42 p.m., on the motion of Mr Colman, seconded by Mr. Davies, the Board voted unanimously to go
into executive session to discuss personnel matters.
The executive session was adjourned at 9.10 p.m.

a. What's In The Land Use Element?Part Two: Mr.Bowyer reported that Philip Herr, of Philip B. Herr
and Associates,planning consultants,has been hired to assist the Board in moving toward the preparation of
an RFP by outlining the trends affecting Lexington's future and techniques for guiding future development
that the Board should consider
b. Relationship to the 20/20 Strategic Planning Groun: Mr. Merrill said that the four strategic
workshops planned by the Selectmen's Strategic Planning Group will lead to a town-wide goal statement.
Lexington is a mature suburb,not a developing community with a lot of land.Mr Garber commented that
this effort affords an opportunity to re-examine density and scale in Lexington Mr Bowyer showed
examples of other towns' comprehensive plans.
