HomeMy WebLinkAboutPlanning Board Minutes, 1999-04-12 PLANNING BOARD MINUTES MEETING OF APRIL 12, 1999 The meeting of the Lexington Planning Board held in the Selectmen's Room Town Office Building,was called to order at 7.05 p.m. by Chairman Merrill with members Colman,Davies, Galaitsis,Bridge-Denzak, Planning Director Bowyer, and Assistant Planner Garber present. ************** ADMINISTRATION OF LAND DEVELOPMENT REGULATIONS *************** SUBDIVISION OF LAND 72. Lincoln Street. Sketch 7 4.5 Subdivision elan,Ronald Lopez. Decision: The Board reviewed and suggested some changes to a draft decision, dated April 12, 1999, on the sketch 7 4.5 subdivision plan for land at 41 Lincoln Street submitted by Ronald Lopez,North Shore Construction Company They will review the revised decision at their next meeting, on April 14 ***************************** PLANNING DIRECTOR'S REPORT *************************** 73 Recent Activity a. MAPD Annual Conference: Mr Bowyer reported that he attended the MAPD Annual Conference in Northampton,Massachusetts. He said two workshops dealing with legal issues gave him some other ways of looking at the mansionization issue which he will develop later. b. APA National Planning Conference: Mr Bowyer informed that Board that he will be traveling and attending the American Planning Association National Planning Conference in Seattle beginning April 20. c. "Mansionization" Media Coverage: He also reported that he was interviewed by a WBZ-TV reporter about"mansionization" in Lexington.He played a video of the segment,which appeared on the evening news. d. House Bill 1215.An Act Relative to the Zoning of Certain Residential Properties: Mr. Bowyer reported on his testimony and that of Rep. Jay Kaufman on House Bill No. 1215 dealing with "mansionization" before the Legislature's Local Affairs Committee. He said the Committee seem engaged by the issue and asked numerous good questions. Several of the legislators are former local officials in cities and towns that have experienced teardowns. He was optimistic but said the real test will be how the whole House and Senate treat the bill. ************************ ARTICLES FOR 1999 TOWN MEETING ************************ Amendments to the Zoning By-Law 74 RO and CN to CD. 903 Waltham Street. James McManus III.to be Indefinitely Postponed: The Board Ms. Bridge-Denzak remarked that she received a phone message from Richard Bechtel, architect for the 903 Waltham Street Rezoning proposal.He said that the applicants intend to withdraw and that the article would be indefinitely postponed.
