●FM System for all Classrooms
○Tom Martellone (LPS Tech Director)has supplied every grade level classroom
with an FM system.Teachers have a small mic to wear around their neck, and
there is a speaker in the center of each classroom.A lot of the new schools
(Hastings and Estabrook)have them in all classrooms.
○This system helps ensure students can hear the teachers
○The kits did not come with a microphone for students to pass around,so he is
looking for an additional $7,000 to purchase those.
○It is not mandatory for teachers to use.Feedback from those who are has been
good.
○Art room, library, and music room may be outfitted next!
●Access/WIDA Testing
○A secure large-scale English language proficiency assessment administered to
Kindergarten through 12th grade students who have been identified as English
language learners (ELLs).It is given annually in WIDA Consortium member
states to monitor students'progress in acquiring academic English.

specific order. It usually takes about four weeks to complete. Results come in

Questions from Site Council
●Sarina Sherwin asked about the lines in the lunchroom,as students are to file into two
lines based on their classroom number.Through her participation in Green Team, she
has noticed that lines can get long, particularly in large sections (Grade 2 and Grade 4).
All sections have three classrooms so there is no way to evenly divide students.Brian
Baker mentioned that the lunchroom staff is supposed to move students from one line to
the next, should one be much longer than the other. He will remind them to do so.
●Lana Panasyuk asked about the school calendar, namely expanding the holiday break
from midweek to midweek. She mentioned that in Concord, they have consolidated most
holidays into a longer December break.Brian Baker responded that the school calendar
is headed up by the School Committee, and if there's a group of parents that want to
take this up with them while they are meeting, that would be an option.
