Proposal to Install Temporary Lights at Lincoln
2016 Fall Season — 6 Weeks October 3 through November 14
• Proposal:
LUSC requesting 6 week permit to install temporary lights at Lincoln2 (most buffered from
neighbors)
Fully funded by LUSC
Weeknights only — 5 30-8 30pm (shut off by 8 45pm to allow for player pickups)
• Primary motivations:
Minimize wear and tear on Center #1/#2 fields, especially if the grass fields are impacted by
weather
Ensure LUSC can deliver on 2 practices/week outlined in its fall programs, with a reasonable
amount of time on the quality turf surface
Limit the number of pickups and dropoffs on Worthen Road where safety can be an issue
• Situation:
LUSC has 5 weeknights to offer practice time
O 2 practices per week per team
- LUSC has 68 teams this fall at 3rd grade and above
O Represents roughly 960 children
• Precedent:
LUSC successfully used temporary lights at Lincoln 2 in fall 2014, spring 2015, and fall 2015

Memo to Karen Simmons
Director of Recreation,Town of Lexington
From David Williams
Chair Lincoln Park Sub-Committee
The Lincoln Park Sub Committee has discussed the landscaping situation at the Lincoln Park bathroom
facility As you know the Lincoln Park subcommittee initiated the project with$75,000.00 in seed
money In conjunction with the Lyons Club and donations from individuals and some of the youth and
adult sports associations we raised the additional monies needed The total spent on the bathrooms,
not counting the in-kind donations was over$175,000. In addition, the Lincoln Park sub-committee
spent over$20,000 to install the rain garden, irrigation and landscaping around the bathroom
We have been disheartened by the way the landscaping has seriously deteriorated We attribute this to
weather, (a very dry summer) irrigation which was not always functioning, heavy foot traffic and blatant
disregard for where to walk and where not to walk when accessing the bathroom and the playing fields.
We have tried hard to maintain the landscaping as best we can Every two week Parterre and Barnard
Landscaping have staff working to maintain it, but to no avail
We have discussed the situation at many of our meetings and reluctantly have come to the conclusion
that we do not want to continue to be responsible for the landscaping at the bathroom facility We plan
to remove the oak leaf hydrangeas and allow the plantings to remain in the rain garden
We realize that much work remains to be done in landscaping the parking lot and trust that the area
around the bathrooms can be part of whatever plan evolves for the entire area
I will be happy to discuss this with you
