Minutes of the meeting held on Thursday, October 13 ,2016
Members Present:
William Thomas, Peter Lawrence, Jack Mitchell, Courtney Walsh, Annie
Reilly, Thomas Barry, Joseph Lahiff, Rachel Michelson, Mitchell Heyda,, Jimmy Lane, Meghan
Buschini, Venuri DeSilva, Ganga Nair, Nicholas Newton-Cheh, Emma Donigan, Ishaan
Khurana, Nachiyappan Solaiyappan, Lucas DiCerbo, Bess Lawrence, Millie Landis, Michael
Swift, Katherine Gehring, Anthony Marbardy, Charles Marbardy, Deb Hankins, Sean Maloney,
Joe Hankins, Doug Lucente, and Karen Duprey.
Members Absent: Alia Rizvi, Avery Gehring, Hadar Boker and Shannon DeGuglielmo.
1.The minutes from the read and approved.
September meeting were
2.Everyone reintroduced themselves to the commission. The money raised from selling
candy was collected, LYC will be donating $1100.00 to the Lexington Food Pantry.
3.T-shirt design ideas were presented and a final design was voted on, pricing for T-shirts
will be at the next meeting. In addition, for new members we will be ordering your
sweatshirt, the cost is $30.00, please make checks payable to LYC, and bring to
November meeting.
4.The island cleanup went well, our work was noticed by members of the community with
praises passed on to adult advisors. So thank you to all who participated, and Karen for
all her hard work.
5.Our next community service event is hanging balloons at participating businesses in the
center for Halloween on Monday, October 31st. We will meet in the quad at 10:50 and
walk to Brookline Bank. Pizza will be provided and we will be back at school by 12:52 -
the beginning of D block. Those who’ve said they can attend are William Thomas, Peter
Lawrence, Jack Mitchell, Courtney Walsh, Annie Reilly, Joseph Lahiff, Mitchell Heyda,
Rachel Michelson, Jimmy Lane, Meghan Buschini, Nicholas Newton-Cheh, Noah
Jacobson, Emma Donigan, Ishaan Khurana, Lucas DiCerbo, Rishi Gollerkeri, Bess
Lawrence, Millie Landis, Katherine Gehring, Anthony Marbardy, and Charles Marbardy.
If you replied maybe, please inform your team leader if you can or cannot go as
soon as possible.
6.We discussed the turkey deliveries for Thanksgiving which will take place on
Wednesday, November 23rd, at 3:00 pm at the C&W Bus Yard, on Bedford St. Sean
rewarding this event is and the importance of respecting the privacy of
talked about how
the families we deliver turkeys to. Remember that you should only be a driver if you can
legally take passengers in your car. We will finalize details at our next meeting.
7.Finally, we discussed holiday fundraising, we will be fundraising at the Depot Square
Holiday Tree Lighting on Friday, November 25th, from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm. We
discussed which costumes we would like to buy to have at this fundraising event,
Shannon is busy ordering our requests; thank you Shannon. We also discussed
fundraising at concerts at Cary Hall including the Holiday Pops on Friday, December
2nd, The Ultimate Christmas Show on Saturday, December 3rd, and A Joyful Christmas
Show, on Saturday, December 10th. We will discuss these events further at our next
meeting.
