Mona Roy, Bettina MCGimsey,Jennifer Yaar, Kathy Cunningham, Nicole Diggins-Locher, Bronte Abraham, Ann Wolf, Robin Abrams, Barbara White, Lisa O'Brien Location Lexington Community Center, Room 237 Call to order• 9 43 am Adjourned 11 20 am Approvals • Minutes from 5/5/16 Business Meeting were unanimously approved • Updated by-laws (posted in March 2016)were unanimously approved • $40 approved for contribution to fund for Jen Wolfram and Carol Pilarski Scholarship • The following slate of candidates were elected to the 2016-2017 board o Kathy Cunningham, Co-President o Lisa O'Brien, Co-President o Robin Abrams and Ann Wolf, Membership Co-Chairs o Jennifer Yaar, Secretary o Barbara White,Treasurer o Laura Jannel, Lexington Children's Place Liaison o Kathy Cunningham, Bowman Liaison o Farhana Stevenson, Bridge Liaison o Justine Neely and Jill Tillem, Fiske Liaisons o Heidi Mann, Harrington Liaison o Jennifer Yaar, Hastings Liaison o Mona Roy, Diamond Liaison o Margy Medini and Robin Abrams, Clarke Liaisons o Carol Millard and Barbara White, LHS Liaisons o Mona Roy and Bronte Abrama, School Committee Liaisons o Lisa O'Brien, Out-of-District Liaison • Open Positions Estabrook Liaison, Co-Secretary, Co-Treasurer Reports of Officers • 3,068.42 00 is current bank balance Expenses expected from end-of-year staff appreciation Other Business • LHS ILP 3 Update LPS is in the process of hiring NECC(New England Center for Children)to oversee the program. The NECC team will include one full-time BCBA and one teacher for two years,with and August 7, 2016 start date. SSI (student support instructors)to be trained by NECC staff as well There may also be changes to BCBA staff at the high school Team discussed need to follow ups and updates from parents and LPS staff on progress of the NECC staff and programming. • LHS ILP 2 update team discussed need additional social involvement for students in the LHS ILP program and the possibility of adding stipended advisors for the after school clubs. It will also be be important to get more information from school deans about inclusion plans for these students. • Dyslexia Support Group update Team met with Sandor Alessandrini to discuss parent concerns. Nicole Diggins-Locher and Bettina McGimsey met with Ellen Sugita to discuss screening and service delivery Team also met with Dr Czajkowski regarding current legislation around service delivery Early screening to be added to district improvement plan, and Dr Czajkowski, Ellen Sugita and new curriculum director to meet to discuss how early screening could be implemented across the district, as well as ways to deliver services to students with and without IEPs. Professional development will be provided to staff to help them better understand dyslexia. Team discussed need to better communicate Dyslexia Support Group as part of the overal SEPTA and SEPAC organization • 504 Updates. Valerie Viscosi is working to hire a dedicated 504 coordinator • Ideas for 2016-2017 meetings. o September Welcome back networking meeting, with attendance by Ellen Sugita and Kay Slusser o October• Dyslexia awareness, possibly kids panel, possibly researchers from Tufts? Another movie screening? o November• Basic Rights? o Other ideas included Anxiety, Special Needs estate planning, Federation IEP Workshop, update on state legislation, inclusion panel (successes in middle school and high school electives and after school sports)
