HomeMy WebLinkAbout2023-09-27-LEX250-minSemiquincentennial Commission (Lexington 250)-Agenda Wednesday,September 27,2023 4:30-6:00 pm –Hybrid Meeting Parker Room,Town Office Building &on Zoom Pursuant to notice duly filed with the Town Clerk,the Semiquincentennial Commission (Lex250)convened in a hybrid meeting in the Parker Room at the Town Office Building and via Zoom video conference on Wednesday,September 13 at 4:33 pm by Ms.Barry as allowed by legislation (S.2475)extending the suspension of certain provisions of the Massachusetts Open Meeting Law. Present In Person Suzie Barry,Select Board Member,Chair Mona Roy,Community Representative,Vice Chair Jane Hundley,Lexington Public Schools Representative Tom Colatosti,Community Representative Steve Conners,Reenactment Community Representative Ashley Rooney,Community Representative Cleve Coats,Community Representative Barry Cunha,Business Representative Cerise Jalelian,Town Celebrations Committee Representative Present Remotely Jillian Tung,Music &Arts Representative,Clerk Paul O’Shaughnessy,Historical Organization Representative John Rossi,Commission on Disability Liaison Julie O’Leary,Civic Representative Absent Bridger McGraw,Community Representative Noah Michelson,Community Representative Bebe Fallick,Tourism Committee Representative ●The meeting was called to order at 4:33 p.m.by Ms.Barry ●Updates and Discussion ○Collaborative Meeting at Community Center:Review of table notes, ■Publicity ●Ms.Rooney,Ms.Roy,and Ms.Jalelian were present in this group.Helpful information was presented.Members noted the importance of communication between all towns ■Example of the need for clear inter-town and intra-town communication:Sandya Iyer is meeting with economic development representatives from other towns in regards to a shared website etc which came as a surprise to those on the Lex250 Commission.Ms. Barry gave more details about this situation specifically involving the Intermunicipal Agreement.Ms.Barry and Ms.Roy are in communication with the Lexington Town Manager to help clarify roles,plans and responsibilities 1 ■Celebrations:Ms.Jalelian shared the conversations about the parade weekend with committee members expressing opinions.Mr.Rossi would like to see how the Commission on Disabilities can have a voice with the 250 Commission ■Events:Dr.Tung gave a synopsis of this group.Ms.Hundley and Dr. Tung found the sharing and conversation beneficial and positive.Any further meetings with this group,Ms.Roy would also like to attend. This group expressed interest in collaborating on some events. ●Dr.Tung posed the question about a proposed date for the Lexington Symphony concert.Discussion landed on the possibility of April 12,2025 at 7:30 or 8:00. ■Finance and Merchandising -Mr.Colatosti is continuing to work on the financials for the Lex250 Commission ■Re-enactment:Mr.Connors,Mr.O’Shaughnessy,and Dr.Cunha shared the conversation about the events of April 19,2025.Tower Park event will be the weekend before on April 12,2025 along with events in Bedford and Lincoln.This group also discussed scheduling on April 19,2025.Concord Bridge:reenactment is on Monday,April 21,2025. ■Public Safety,Public Works-Mr.Coats and Ms.Barry updated the commission members ■Transportation/Public Works-See notes from this group ●IMA Update-see above ●Meeting With Kate Fox Director of the Massachusetts Office of Travel and Tourism Friday,October 20,2025 ○Discussion centered around how to best use our meeting time with her.This meeting is open to all of the communities.The need for a unified message from all of the 250 committees is essential ●Finance Update-Possibility of Mini Grants-October 11,2023 meeting ●Working Group Updates ○Ms.Barry reminded the subgroups to update the Google doc to facilitate communication ●Other: ○Pop the Tent-N/A ○Road Show-Continuing to meet with civic groups ●Review and Vote Annual Town Report Submission ○Roll call vote to approve 12-0 ●Future Meetings:October 11 and October 25 A motion to adjourn was made and approved by a roll call vote at 5:44 p.m. Respectfully Submitted,Jane Hundley 2
