HomeMy WebLinkAbout2023-06-28-LEX250-min Semiquincentennial Commission (Lex250) June 28, 2023 Meeting Minutes Pursuant to notice duly filed with the Town Clerk, the Semiquincentennial Commission (Lex250) convened in a hybrid meeting in the Parker Room at the Town Office Building and via Zoom video conference on Wednesday, June 28 at 4:31 pm by Ms. Barry as allowed by legislation (S.2475) extending the suspension of certain provisions of the Massachusetts Open Meeting Law. Present in person: Suzie Barry, Select Board Member, Chair Julie O’Leary, Civic Representative Steve Conners, Reenactment Community Representative Noah Michelson, Community Representative Barry Cunha, Business Representative Cerise Jalelian, Town Celebrations Committee Representative Mona Roy, Community Representative, Vice Chair Bebe Fallick, Tourism Committee Representative Present remotely: Jillian Tung, Music & Arts Representative, Clerk Jane Hundley, LPS 6-8 Social Science Coordinator Absent: Paul O’Shaughnessy, Historical Organization Representative ● The meeting was called to order at 4:31 pm by Ms. Barry ● Patriots’ Day 2025 Schedule ○ Ms. Barry presented the proposed Patriots’ Day schedule of activities to the Select Board at their meeting on 6.21.2023 and provided a summary of the discussion that followed ■ Public Safety staff emphasized that activities expected to draw crowds should be scheduled on Saturday in the interest of providing adequate staffing, resources, and other factors related to public safety ■ Mr. Lucente asked about a rain date ■ Ms. Hai, Mr. Pato, and DPW, and Mr. Pato expressed concerns about the parade taking place after 3 pm on Saturday ■ Mr. Pato encouraged Select Board members to have a conversation with the Minuteman in late July ○ Mr. Conners summarized comments he made at the meeting, including concerns about whether the proposed schedule was supportable ○ Commission members discussed the proposed schedule and shared thoughts about different scenarios ● ARPA Funding ○ Mr. Michelson presented an estimate for custom lanyards ○ A motion made by Mr. Conners to use $1000 of ARPA funding for lanyards was approved unanimously by roll call vote ○ A motion made by Ms. Barry to spend $7500 of ARPA funding on a penny machine that would be installed at the Lexington Visitors Center was approved unanimously by roll call vote ● Next meeting: Wednesday, 7/26 at 8 am ● A motion to adjourn by ○ Motion to adjourn by Mr. Cunha was approved unanimously by roll call vote at 5:20 pm Respectfully submitted, Jillian Tung
