HomeMy WebLinkAbout2023-08-25-VISION2025-minTown of Lexington Vision for Lexington Committee Meeting August 25, 2023 Remote Meeting 7:45 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. Members Present: Margaret Coppe, Jill Hai, Kathleen Lenihan, Bob Peters, John Giudice, Daniel Joyner, Weidong Wang, Shannon Murtagh, Carol Marine, Marian Cohen, Bhumip Khasnabish, Andrew Dixon Guests: None Staff Present: James Robinson Absent: Samita Mandelia, Mark Manasas, Min Zhou The meeting was called to order: 7:50 am The Remote Meeting Script was read by Margaret Coppe Minutes:  Minutes from 7/28/2023 were approved with minor revisions. Meeting Highlights: VFL Website Report on Emails Daniel Joyner gave an update on emails received by the Vision for Lexington Committee and provided an update from the Select Board’s Office on new software that stores and tracks committee applications and appointments. Jill Hai shared that the new software is being used to hold onto committee applications and how VFL will be notified when applications are received. VFL Committee Reappointment Reminders Margaret Coppe shared a reminder to VFL members whose committee appointment is expiring and directed them to the Select Board’s Office reappointment process. Annual Town Report Photo and Review VFL clarified the items to include in the Annual Report for Fiscal Year 2023 and took a picture via Zoom. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusivity Kathleen Lenihan shared updates regarding the Serious Talks curriculum and upcoming School Committee meetings where the topic will be further discussed. Update on Communications Director Search Daniel Joyner shared that the search for a new Communications Director is underway, and panel interviews have taken place. There was a discussion on aspects of the position’s job description. Update on Subcommittee on Voter Participation in Lexington Marian Cohen and Margaret Coppe provided updates on the subcommittee and how the Chief Equity Officer and members of the Commission on Disability will be present at future meetings to discuss the intersection between DEI, access and functional needs, and voting in Lexington. There was a discussion on collecting the demographic data of Lexington voters. Update on Subcommittee for Sharing Survey Information John Giudice shared the working document that the subcommittee has been working on. Weidong Wang and Margaret Coppe shared some clarifications on the difference between the Housing Authority and LexHAB, as well as some housing and zoning related topics that have occurred since the last survey was conducted. Bob Peters reiterated these comments and highlighted the Affordable Housing Trust and the passage of the MBTA Zoning Article at the previous Annual Town Meeting.
