HomeMy WebLinkAbout2005-11-07-SC-min Lexington Public Schools School Committee Meeting — November 7, 2005 Central Office Administration Building, 6:30 p.m. Present for the school committee: Olga Guttag, Tom Griffiths, Tom Diaz, Scott Burson, and Helen Cohen, Chairman Also present: Dr. Paul Ash, Superintendent of Schools Mr. Jim Shaw presented a proposed amendment to Article 5 of the special Town Meeting to restore the health grant. Mr. Allessandro Alessandrini supported the proposed amendment. Mr. Griffiths moved a motion, seconded by Mr. Burson — “I move the School Committee with great regret not endorse the proposed amendment.” The motion passed 3-1-1. (Diaz opposed and Cohen abstained.) The School Committee members discussed the “Idle-Free” Campaign for Lexington. Mr. Burson moved a motion, seconded by Mrs. Guttag — “I move the School Committee endorse the ‘Idle-Free’ in Lexington Campaign.” The motion passed 5-0. Mr. Griffiths moved a motion, seconded by Mr. Diaz that the School Committee continue the meeting at the Town Meeting site. The motion passed 5-0. The School Committee ended this portion of its meeting at 7:18 p.m. The School Committee did not reconvene at the special Town Meeting.
