LEXINGTON SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEETING

Present: Superintendent Paul Ash, School Committee Chair Tom Diaz, School Committee members
Helen Cohen, Margaret Coppe and Tom Griffiths. The minutes were taken by Leora Tec.
The meeting was convened at 6:38 p.m.
I.Call to Order and Welcome (Tom Diaz)
II.Action Item
A.Discussion and Vote to Support Article 36 (DPW bill)
Motion to support article 36 (Griffiths, Coppe).
Discussion of the motion.
The motion passed 4-0.
B.Use of SPED Extraordinary Relief Funds Carl Valente can see the point of
either option 1 or 2.
Deborah Brown (Appropriation Committee): The Appropriation Committee
unanimously recommends using the $103K in extraordinary relief to reduce
amount of the schools’ request under article 42 and increasing the amount in
the reserve fund by a like amount.
Motion to change the amount of our supplemental request to $521,558
(Griffiths, Cohen).
$103, 980 will remain in the Appropriation Committee reserve to apply to any
late-breaking FY07 SPED expenses in this year.
The motion passed 4-0.
III. Motion to adjourn (Griffiths, Cohen). The motion passed 4-0.
